Khulna Shipyard is set to build two modern Landing Craft Utility (LCU) and two inland container ships for the Bangladesh Navy.

The 42 metre long, LCU’s are powered by two 600 horsepower engines and have a carrying capacity of 415 tons.

The LCU’s will be used for amphibious assault operations carried out jointly by the Bangladesh Army and Navy.

Vice Admiral Farid Habib attended the keel laying ceremony alongside other senior naval officials.

Khulna Shipyard (KSY) recently constructed 5 Coastal Patrol Craft (CPC) for the Bangladesh Navy for the first time with technical support from China’s CSOC.

KSY plans to offer warships for export in the future.

The way BN fleet is expanding and the way KSY is building ships, it seems soon we will lose track of the total BN vessels.
