Kaveri Engine Project update

Really after getting so much good news from Indian defence industry. We can say

"NEIGHBOURS' ENVY, OWNER'S PRIDE.::chilli:: ::flame::

True. Very well said.

The notion that anyone is doing a favour to India, by transferring even a nut-bolt technology, is wrong.

China got Boeing factory because Americans knew capabilities of Chinese engineers. It was better to join China than letting them become a competitor to Boeing.

Today India is getting F-18s offer, not because Americans love Indian democracy. Its because India is very close in maturing its own engine technologies and 4th Generation fighter technologies.

that is quiet a general text book theory westerners practise.
It is only after BARC demostrated the Advanced heavy water reactor,it got invitation to participate in ITER. there were many instances in defence itself. DRDO demostrated its AESA S,L bands for AWACsand got so many US offers.

SRE made a huge impact in ISRO and made the space faring nations look at India.And now chandrayan which found significant portions of water. though its a old saying that strength respects strength,but its quiet applicable in technology matters.

If a nation keeps making nuts and bolts, no other will offer high tech suspecting the ones capabilities. you gotta have to move along .

Initially many agencies dont like to continue the Kaveri program,given its highly unrealistic specifications and configeration. Its low bypass ,flat rated performance,low peak temperatures compared to its counterparts scared the other engine developers.
But today Kaveri stood tall even after taking couple of decades in development by acheiving the initial ASQR .

Now GTRE with its experience can design a superb engine in far less time in colaboration with other engine makers.

P.S: Kaveri is going to be integrated with the TD this year.Though the current engine is not suitable for AF needs.

i think east pakistan was also ur territory

and your point is....

today india claims to be victim of proxy wars. wasnt the insurection in bengal an indian proxy war.

@Bingo

no:no:.. as a country it is ten times bigger....

@ Arik

India didnt have to agree to a ceasfire.

Congrats India.

look guys... credit where credit is due. India is doing realy well, and this shouldnt be seen as a bad thing for Pakistan, and neither should Pakistani success be a bad thing for India.

but I take issue with ure reference to the wars. India is 10 TIMES bigger than Pakistan, by any rational explanation india should have overran pakistan decades ago, but is unable to :hitwall:. That is a major credit to Pakistan. u Have to admit.:pakistan:

So you mean it was Pakistan who fought well and defeated India?? If we go by ur way, China is also bigger than India so they should have overrun India decades back ? India donot want to overruns you.
Just check the history of wars and sit tight, Credits are not available on the basis of country size.

On another thread, Pakistanis are busy paying respect to dead terrorists behind 26/11.

Should you expect better here?

yes they are ..but you should remember your on a paksitani thread OK??!!! soo keep the anti paksitani sprit inside or :sniper: ehehehe....

;) Decades ago India was only 5 times bigger than Pakistan. If things continue the way they are now in Pakistan, In a few decades India may become 20 times bigger than Pakistan.:rofl:

STOP IT GUYS...

dont turn this thread into a INDO-PAK pi$$ing contest...

lol pissing we might know who drinks that ;) ...on a lighter note ignore troals why? beacuse of one person who is pakistani started up the flame and your indian counter parts just added fuel to the fire ... talking rubbish and after protray themsleves as the boy who cried wofl....

my Pakistani members...its their engine they've developed it they are fixing problems they are testing it why do some of you have problems? Let them try it surely it has alternative future if not on lca..leave the thread to them..

:rofl::rofl:

It's really funny to see Indian and Pakistan fighting on this forum everyday, lol seriously.

people need to grow up.

This is what I call an educated reply.

Both the Indian and pakistani members always wage wars on these forums just for funny things that doesnt matter in real life scenario. Here in these public forums, no ones identity has any sort of authenticity,be it a 50 cent blogger or real patriot.

In my previous post,I said Kaveri is going to be integrated on to LCA to look at the performance.But it is not going to live with that.

OTOH,kabini core is to be used for the development of high bypass turbo fans for other uses aka Saras types and UAVs trainers,.....
People has to remind that the knowledge gained during these years is not at all going to be wasted.And with the formulation of new development team to aid the next gen of aero engines,Indian aero engines will sure see the light at the end of the tunnel.

India to flight-test first indigenous jet engine next month

After two decades of research and development, India is all set to flight-test its first indigenously developed jet engine next month, an official said on Wednesday.

"Kaveri engine will be flight-tested in one-and-half months... Should be after middle of May," Director of Bangalore-based Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), a DRDO lab, T Mohana Rao, said.

It would be flight-tested using the IL-76 aircraft in Russia, he said.
The Kaveri engine, meant for India's fighter jet, the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, has completed all simulation and altitude tests. The altitude tests in Russia in February were a "grand success", he said.
GTRE officials said around Rs 3,000 crore has been spent on the Kaveri project.

Rao said GTRE is now looking to reduce the weight of the Kaveri engine to 50 kg from 60 kg. "It has to be fine-tuned. We will go in for lot of optimisation in future".

GTRE, which is engaged in research and development of gas turbines for military aircraft, has so far developed nine Kaveri engines and four Kabini (core of Kaveri). "All engines have been tested to full potential," he added.

Hey guys! The article says it's indigenously built, so why is it being tested in Russia?

Is it not being built and tested with Russian assistance then?
