Doubting her character, UP man puts chili powder inside wife’s private part for ‘agni pariksha’
The atrocities by her husband were so severe that she was forced to leave her home and seek refuge at her parents house.
Ballia: A horrifying incident has come to light from Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh where a man subjected his wife of 15 years to extreme torture after he suspected her of ‘bad’ character.
The atrocities by her husband were so severe that she was forced to leave her home and seek refuge at her parents house. The accused husband even subjected his wife to a bizarre fire test (agni pariksha) by trying to put her hand in hot oil seeking her innocence.
And when that didn’t suffice, he resorted to even more horrifying torture.
Trial by hot oil
The victim alleged that her husband began to doubt her character recenytly and subjected her to physical abuse on a daily basis. To test her loyalty, he resorted to an unthinkable act- he heated the oil until it boiled and insisted that she put her hand in the oil filled bowl to prove her innocence. When she refused, he resorted to further cruelty.

The accused husband even attempted to harm his wife’s private parts by inserting chili powder and even Fevicol adhesive. Despite her cries, no one in the family came to her aid, she alleged. Feeling trapped and victimized, she finally found an opportunity to escape and sought refuge with her parents.
Woman narrate ordeal
She later confided in her family about the horrific abuse she endured. The family then decided to take legal action against her husband. Finally, a complaint was filed against her husband and seven others involved in the abuse on September 5. Police said they have initiated an investigation into the matter.
The victim’s ordeal had been ongoing for years, with her husband constantly suspecting her character and subjecting her to inhumane treatment. The woman’s physical and mental well-being deteriorated significantly, and she finally decided to flee home to protect herself and her 3 children.
The woman has undergone medical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
