ISI ordered journalist's murder - More US Propaganda?

Hilarious stuff from the Time magazine! The ISI does not contact anyone like that, & let the whole world find out about that. The ISI is silent like a shadow, people might get suspicious of the ISI monitoring them, but they remain behind the shadows & operate extremely discreetly. They never publicly make announcements, threatening statements, or go after anyone. Propaganda after propaganda! While the ISI is no angel, Pakistani people are not gullible, & know what the intentions of these news reports are.

OK , you can use these lines when you are making some james bond movie otherwise your ISI description made me laugh, the world sees it more as a rogue organization which support's terrorism in pakistan, not as a superspy agency , so forget that shadow stuff.

It's unfortunate but they are well, stupid and arrogant. So many fronts, so many needless fronts - radicals don't get death threats, instead journalists do, radicals are not harassed, journalists are, it's just stupid and of course it makes Pakistan and the ISI a laugh stock

The ISI doesn't even have a website, no one in Pakistan (or internationally) even knows the identities of ISI agents. Fact: no one knows anything about the ISI, & some feel threatened by that fact.

it seems like a ridiculous argument that just cuz they don't have a website they are like shadows in the dark and they never come out . wake up man your country is going down the drain because people like these silence any voice of reason .

Even though the western media is on a rampage to demise ISI and Pakistan Army in general and this article is an example of that, the big mouths should be kept shut forever - nothing is more important than national security. Period.

ISI doesn't contact anyone publicly & says "we're the ISI, stop talking against us"; just tracks them very discreetly, without letting people know. People can have a suspicion that the ISI is on their tail, but the ISI is discreet, & looms over them like a shadow. The journalists are just scared (understandably) after what happened to Saleem Shahzad, but if someone calls Najam Sethi, Hamid Mir on their phone, & threatens them; doesn't necessarily mean it's the ISI. You clearly don't understand how the ISI works.

OK Mr Superman you know everything. I do not neither Sethi nor Shahzad nor Cheema nor Hamid Mir nor Haider nor the Time. No one only you.

 Are you insane?

Do you know what will result in that? Learn from the history. Any country's military will not do that not that if they do not want to see full civil war.

Hey, a citizen has taken issue with their reporting and chosen to go to the courts to have his case heard.

This is how things are supposed to work.

The Courts after all fought back against the military under Musharraf, and they fought back against the civilian government of Zardari, I don't see any reason why these journalists won't get a fair hearing and, if necessary, a fair trial.

Kudos to the constitutional processes.

It is a fact that no one knows in Pakistan (or outside Pakistan) knows the identities of ISI agents, or anything about the inside workings of the organization.

What do Haider, Cheema and Mir know? Even they are speculating and voicing their 'suspicions' on who they think is responsible. None of them has any actual evidence or reason to blame the ISI.

And have you thought that perhaps that is precisely the intention behind these 'threats', given the timing, and that it is not in fact the ISI doing this?

After all, even a simpleton would know that these threats would become public and exacerbate the situation for the ISI, given the SS controversy.

dude , do american's know what CIA is doing or who are CIA agent's ?, do INDIANS know what raw is doing and who are raw agent's ? so whats the big deal in that, you are trying really hard to glorify ISI , but the fact is that , it is directly responsible for all the mess your nation is in right now.

Not so long back, about a month-month and a half, we (a group of friends) were discussing precise the same thing. When is it that najam sethi will be knocked off, and well it seems we were after all not wrong that soon enough a propaganda will be unleashed to name him (and as it comes out these chaps now) a traitor, an agent of a foreign intel agency, and then he might just mysteriously disappear to be found dead someday.

Part one seems to have been enacted, so the question remains when will he and the other two all of a sudden disappear? Well, guess its not far from happening either. At least one thing is guaranteed for now, the smear campaign will only get more personal, nasty, and brute and these three chaps becoming known as the traitors will become a “common knowledge” for the public at large as do so many things that find favor as a part of establishment propaganda.

I still believe najam sethi was treading a very cautious line of not being overtly blunt in his criticism of the isi but guess the marham patti that he used to do along side didn’t soothe the mood of the mil top brass, but none the less a nice try, at least he fought valiantly.

The problem erupts if Nawaz shrief with his current mood of no mil interference in the running of state affairs was to be elected next, though the chances of such a thing happening are grim but still, then there will be a lot of fire work of sorts, and he then will have the support of all these jurnos as well if they were to last that long.

One certainly hopes these three chaps don’t meet a fate that saleem shahzad did!

So how do Sethi, Haider and Mir know this is at the 'behest of the ISI/PA'?

Why the double standards?

Why weren't these guys 'knocked off' under Musharraf's rule then, when it could have been done far more easily?

You can come up with all sorts of absurd conspiracy theories to try and implicate the ISI, but the facts remain the same, that there is very little motive for the ISI to suddenly start threatening and killing journalist now, when they have been doing the same thing for years, if not decades, and that there is essentially no evidence to support allegations that the ISI is involved in these acts.
