Iran unveils first domestic fighter jet

This plane is 88 % locally built. Its avionics or combat suite can be borderline 4.0 generation. It is just a technology demonstrator for future domestic productions in Light fighter class. The radar is Pulse Doppler X band FCR most probably Iranian built under TOT from China, copied from ELTA, Grifo series. May be more information will follow but seems like KLJ-6F (~86 KM detection range ???) or KLJ-7, enabling semi or full BVR engagement capability.

If turbojets are 100 % OWJ built then this is a massive accomplishments for future developments.

By 2022 we could probably build out a 100 % domestic F-20 Tigershark equivalent. By that time Su-30SME, Su-35S might be flying in IRIAF as well.

Iran unveiled its first domestic fighter jet at a defence show in Tehran on Tuesday.

Images on state television showed President Hassan Rouhani sitting in the cockpit of the new “Kowsar” plane at the National Defence Industry exhibition.

It is a fourth-generation fighter, with “advanced avionics” and multi-purpose radar, the Tasnim news agency said, adding that it was “100-percent indigenously made”.

State TV said the plane had already been through successful testing and showed it waiting on a runway for its first public display flight.

The plane was first publicly announced on Saturday by Defence Minister Amir Hatami, who had said it would be unveiled on Wednesday.

He gave few details of the project, focusing instead on Iran’s efforts to upgrade its missile defences.

Hatami said the defence programme was motivated by memories of the missile attacks Iran suffered during its eight-year war with Iraq in the 1980s, and by repeated threats from Israel and the United States that “all options are on the table” in dealing with the Islamic republic.

“We have learned in the (Iran-Iraq) war that we cannot rely on anyone but ourselves. Our resources are limited and we are committed to establishing security at a minimum cost,” he said in a televised interview.

The US has sold hundreds of billions of dollars of weapons to Iran’s regional rivals, but has demanded that Tehran curb its defence programmes, and is in the process of reimposing crippling sanctions in a bid to force its capitulation.

Why does Iran pass the outdated US F-5 as her indigenous fighter jet?

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

A shit plane from1950’s revamped as iranian now. What an embarrassing situation for iran.

But hey, at least it’s not a toy plane like their stealth jet :lol::lol::lol:

@AUz buddy you said it all bwahahahahaha!!

it's still and F5 buddy you can sugarcoat it all you want.

Ok show me one single part of a fighter jet produced by Saudi Arabia locally without foreign aid and assistance .. engine? avionic? landing gear?radar? jet seat?

Almost all part of Iranian one is designed, manufactured and tested in Iran by Iranians and are completely new brand in comparison with original F-5 ...

Still and after decades f5 is a good fighter jet for CAS operations next to it is low and cheap maintenance and still many countries operate it from Turkey to Spain and Greece .. while we are working on heavier engine.

still an f-5.

but.. but.. but.. thhey said it's new and.. but.. but.. they said it's "FIRST"!!!! @500 you are tryin to break my heart buddy!!!

My opinion for iran would be to reverse engineer the f14s even if they are able to replecate half of the airframe capabilities (minus the variable wing) with its engine the capabilities of such a plane would be nearer to jets like f15,su27...
Also the Iranians have already upgraded the tomcat avionics with better ones ..
Also the Iranians could potentially use the mig29s and reverse engineer it into a single engine multirole fighter aka mig33 (with potential help from china) ...

Rather than wasting their their resources on useless projects eg qaher313, and this upgraded f5 .. Concentrating their resources on two projects would be much better.
What makes you think they haven't tried it already?

What is the ground attack potential of the plane targeting pods, payload, day night strike capability from sufficient altitudes like 10km?
If the plane is capable then even sending 10 aircraft to Syria would make a difference replacing the outdated risky divebombers like mig21s.

In Syria we just need send 10 more mohajer 6 or shahed 129

That's right. The only archilles heel of drones is jamming. ISIS don't have jamming. So drones is good for dealing with them.
not only good but a lot better , you can put them over their head 24 hours a day and 7 day a weak and when they made a single move send them to hell , you can't do that with fighter airplanes.

After nuclear and missile technology, now aeronautical technology is also trickling out to holy state!
I never was doubtful for a single day

but on the brighter side, we can now produce a 4.0 generation Light fighter at home. In next 5-8 years we will enter 4+ generation.
