Iran begins issuing 30 days Visa on Arrival
on October 20, 2015

Iran has started implementing a cabinet’s bill that allows tourists to obtain visas with 30 days validity upon their arrival in the country’s international airports.

“Iran has started issuing visas with 30 days validity which can be extended for 15 days at its international airports,” ISNA news agency quoted Mojtaba Karimi, a foreign ministry official, as saying Oct 20.
Earlier on August, Iran’s cabinet passed a new bill, extending Iran Airport Visa or Visa On Arrival (VOA) to 30 days for foreign tourists.

Before that, tourists could obtain visas at airports for only 14 days with no extension.

Karimi further added that there is no restriction for foreigners to obtain a visa upon their arrival at Iranian airports several times within a year.

According to the report, the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Albania, Germany, Austria, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Spain, Australia, Slovenia, Slovakia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Ukraine, Italy, Ireland, Bahrain, Brazil, Brunei, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Russia, Romania, Japan, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Oman, France, Palestine, Cyprus, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Croatia, South Korea, North Korea, Colombia, Cuba, Kuwait, Georgia, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Poland, Malaysia, Hungary, Mongolia, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Venezuela, Vietnam, Netherlands, India and Greece are eligible to obtain visa upon their arrival at the Iranian airports.

The report added that the instant visa is obtainable for tourists from the above-mentioned countries and it does not apply to those who hold official passports as well as businessmen and journalists.

However, citizens of the USA, Somali, the UK, Canada, Bangladesh, Jordan, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan cannot obtain visa upon their arrival in airports and they need to obtain visa from Iranian consular services in their countries.

Iran has revoked visa requirements for nationals of 7 countries as part of its plans to boost tourism industry in the country. The citizens of Turkey, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bolivia, Egypt and Syria can travel to Iran and stay in the country without visa from 15 to 90 days under the new visa requirement regulations

The country also seeks reciprocal visa waiver programs with 28 countries as part of its bid to boost inbound tourism, Director of Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) Masoud Soltanifar said on August.

“We have selected 40 countries on the basis of our top priority for attracting tourists, out of which we have sent visa waiver requests to 28 countries and are following the issue through diplomatic channels,” Soltanifar added.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has said the country is ready to offer visa-free travel to citizens of the countries that are willing to engage in reciprocal visa waiver mechanisms with the Islamic Republic.

Iran has launched an ambitious plan to boost tourism income. Soltanifar said the target is to generate $25-30 billion by attracting 20 million tourists a year.

Some 3.8 million of foreign tourists visited Iran, bringing $1.11 billion worth of income to the country in 2012. The figure stood at 4.77 million in 2013, 24.4 percent more year on year.

The foreign tourists were mainly from India, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.

The laws on visa are the most weird laws i've ever read about . Some of our enemies get visa upon arrival , and some of our closest allies get their privilege revoked .

i think it's an awkward mixture of bilateral relations and security reasons .

My next tourist destination is definitely Iran. Could some Iranian living in Tehran help me out with tour guides? I would like to avoid Iranian mullahs at all costs.

Huh?? Visa on arrival includes India as well????
That i didnt know....
India does have the highest shia population outside of iran.....
So it will bring a huge revenue in the form of religious pilgrimage.....
I have visited iran 2 times...
Both times i had to obtain visas...this was 2 years ago...
In the middle east, trust me Iranians are one of the most welcoming and happy people i have seen....
All of whom i met r secular liberal people....
they say they are a country of secular people led by a religious government....
Which is true as far as my experience....:)

Its exactly because of Pakistanis like you. Those who are slaves of Al Saud are not welcome in our country.

If so than Iranians should not be welcome in Pakistan as well.

P.S Moderators please kick this scum out of 'our' forum please.

That's because they think they can solve economic problems with the short cut of "tourism". Don't worry. It will fail. Tourism never brings in that much money, specially in a country like Iran which has Hijab laws and alcohol laws. Tourists travel to enjoy themselves, having a good time, visit beaches, go to night clubs and drink. Instead of solving the economic problems by increasing production, they think they can attract tourists. This is a flawed thinking.

So Indian's get on arrival visa and Pakistanis dont...A slap on the face of Ayatollah's blind followers in Pakistan...

It is because India is a larger economy. Pakistan on the other hand, has economic problems of its own. Pakistan itself charges Iranian citizens several times more money for the visa than it charges Indian citizens, even upto ten times more: Pakistani Visa Fee for Various Countries

So, don't complain.

Scum are those who worship Al Saud. If you are a supporter of Al Saud regime you are not welcome in our country.

We don't worship Al Sauds but surely we don't like to visit a country with full of arrogant punks.
