Pakistan already has started its safe city projects. They are right now fully operational in Lahore and also in Islamabad. Slowly Pakistan would extend that to major cities and highways and also few other places. Pakistan should also integrate safe city projects with highly advanced modern facial recognition software's like the ones China has. China has also safe city projects but they are integrated with facial recognition software. Yes it could have some privacy issues and few other problems. But in this modern world when you are stepping out of your home either you can have privacy or you can have security. So why not bring facial recognition software for our safe city projects. Either develop it on our own or buy it from China. I am posting here examples of Chinese software.

Pass a law requiring every commercial + residential building to have a camera pointed towards the road. Have those cameras linked to the local precinct and to local hard-drive in each home as well. It's the 21st century, all of this can be done for cheap, theft and terrorism effect the general public as well, this is the least we should be doing.

We need our own systems, like server/data centre, network system, and our own AI software. We can't build our own OS now, but we should. Else, our data is available the systems origin country. Like Australia has suddenly topped using isreali based communication systems in the military.

Cannot happen in Karachi

Like every other project Pee Pee Pee failed to complete safe city project in Karachi too

Same in US (and UK), only difference is 90% cameras are hidden in neighborhood light poles, operated by different agencies. NY city even have small sensors on traffic light polls, to detect explosive signature or radioactive material in passing traffic.

best thing to do is under CPEC get huawei or other vendors safecity type system. That will solve many problems with crime. More and more people are installing CCTV camera which is absolutely fantastic. infact so many crimes are solved due to people's private CCTV system.

This can still be done in Karachi, or any other city in the country.

In big cities you along with covering main roads which Government should and few streets. What Government should ask is who ever owns a house specially big societies and big houses that every house and every private society installs cameras. Local Police Station help people in how and at which angle to install camera so maximum area is covered. But still without adding the kind of facial recognition software which China is using it would a hard job to trace a guy or a car. But with that it would be way way way easier. So yes your suggestion is great that needs to come with facial recognition software.

well that wont be enough. you need a department of transport police. motorway police should become transport police and handle roads, handle ports like airport, shipping ports for example.

police needs to be equipped with on body cameras. that way both police and public can be kept safe.

But there are major flaws in areas like equipment. police don't have enough vehicles to chase criminals sadly and chases are not possible in Pakistan either which I guess is a good thing as Pakistani cars are not fast.

you can go on and on. But public with camera in hand or CCTV on property is playing a major role.

I agree with all your points. When I said facial recognition will be enough to fight crimes. That is one major part of the whole set of things. And as for vehicles I have been raising that issue for years Now. Police Station should have at least 80 patrolling cars under him. Out of 12 to 18 should be patrolling all the time. Plus for cases registered and investigations Police officers should have easy access to vehicles to go any where to investigate a case.

first thing is police needs to be taken out of 18th amendment. you cant do s#it in sindh. police in sindh is non existent.

police itself needs to be restructured. infact bring a brand new police force. that will be better. police is mostly part of the problem.

Police needs to have a Military style selection. Pakistan sadly will never be out of international 'sazish' so Police like it is acting like a merasi in uniform at times.

That means police cannot be interfered with by any politician. a politician cannot transfer any police officer. like military all police selection and posting must be made like its done in the military.

Use of technology is a must. all police around the world depend heavily on technology. Pakistani police most of it is still in the 19th Century.

money recovered during crimes can go towards bolstering the police. that is fair. Good behaviour must be rewarded and appreciated. it can prevent corruption.
