Instagram fans could face the DEATH PENALTY if they take photos on a Thai beach

9 April 2019 | https://www.dailystar.co.uk/travel/...ath-penalty-man-khao-airport-phuket-jet-photo

THAILAND’S most Instagrammable beach could soon disappear from the beloved photo-sharing app.

Mai Khao Beach, the strip of golden sand that runs alongside Phuket airport is regularly ‘buzzed’ by airliners delivering tourists to the popular resort.

And few visitors can resist at least one photo of themselves ‘holding up’ an aircraft as it flies low over the beach.

But airport chiefs announced last week that people taking selfies could potentially cause an accident by distracting pilots, and that they intended to close a large chunk of the beach.

“The maximum penalty is the death sentence”
Phuket airport chief Wichit Kaeothaithiam

He continued: “The airport wants to boost tourism revenues, but at the same time, it must make sure there will not be any problem with aviation regulations … Tourism and safety must coexist.”

He said that an additional warning had been issued to people living within a 5 miles radius of the airport, advising of the danger of shining torches into the sky or flying drones in the area, reports People magazine.

A beach on the Caribbean island of St Martin which is similarly overflown by airliners, was the scene of a tragedy in 2017 when a a 57-year-old woman from New Zealand was killed after she was lifted by the force of the outlet from an aircraft’s jet engine and slammed into a fence.

The new law, which is set to take effect soon, has been criticised by locals who depend on tourism for their livelihood: “If the beach is closed, we will have serious problems because many tourists simply will not come,” Winai Sae-io, head of a local entrepreneurial stimulus program, told The Phuket News.

“I want (Airports of Thailand, the agency which operates Phuket International Airport) to look at us and support locals in making (a) living here, too.”

What a pathetic logic... so the pilots are not distracted by all the crap going on there but they get distracted by someone taking a selfie... how professional.
Seems to be vedic logic.

Same, don't see how taking a photo will affect the pilot. Do they use autopilot for landing

No, autopilots are not used and cannot be used during landing but I'm surprised that they don't get distracted by naked women but a selfie distract them.. that's really messed up logic. They should train the pilots..and tell them to focus on flying then a selfie camera.. They can take all the selfies in the world after landing the airplane.

Also check the hypocrisy of the filth called libturds.. they are absent from this like wisdom is absent in donkey.. But if it was about any Muslim country, the filth would be flowing all over the thread with their hatred against Islam.
