India is going all out to strengthen defence ties with Sri Lanka despite objections from Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa.

After army chief General Bikram Singh visited the island state last month, chairman chiefs of staff committee and Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne hosted a 10- member high-powered delegation led by Sri Lankan chief of defence staff Air Chief Marshal WDRMJ Goonetileke recently.

At least in this one case national interest seems to have taken precedence over domestic politics.

There was no such request, IN patrol ships fall well short of a standards required by SLN.

You guys are welcome to return SLNS Sayura back to us, which is by far the most advanced surface vessel of Sri lankan navy.

China can safely fulfill all the needs Sri Lanka has - there is nothing which India could provide and which is not already out there.

India is a customer for our defence industry. We need to keep them happy so they keep buying our stuff.
