Indian Muslims Inc. Their Market & Global Business Impact

I guess you didn't understand my post. Let me explain it to you again. North Indian Muslims have lower education levels than South Indian Muslims, but there isn't a huge difference. However, there is a large, disproportionate amount of difference between the socioeconomic conditions of Muslims living in North India, as compared to the ones in South India.

Ditto for Hindus.

A Kerala Muslim is on an average so much better off than a Jharkhand Hindu...or a Bohra Muslim is better off than even a Hindu from Andhra.

BTW this was your post :

You said education levels and not socio economic levels. That is why I said you are just confused and typing whatever comes to your mind.

Although I agree with the intent and for the most part content, but I wouldn't agree with the bold part. Andhra has better per capita than Kerala.

Bohras are from Gujarat...I think you meant Moplahs..

Again, your myths & misconceptions are wrong, as proven by statistical data. I really doubt you are an Indian Muslim.

I've given the statistical data about the abysmal state of Indian Muslims in the other posts, while you have failed to produce any. The fact of the matter is, besides some rare exceptions/personalities, Indian Muslims as a community have become India's untouchables, even worse than Dalits.

Polls in tow, Cabinet approves 4.5% minority quota

New Delhi: In a major decision ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in five states, the Union Cabinet on Thursday approved reservation for minorities under the Other Backward Castes category.

The Union Cabinet met in the evening to discuss the contentious issue and decided to give 4.5% sub-quota to minorities to be carved out from the existing quota of 27% for the OBC.The reservation for the Muslims will be effective from January 01, 2012.

The Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, took the decision that would pave way for reservation in government jobs and educational institutions for minorities as defined in section 2 (C) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.

Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis) are notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the Act.

The sub-quota will be notified by an executive order, to be issued tonight itself.

The decision is based on the recommendation of the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities.

"The caste and communities of the said minorities which are included in the central list of OBCs notified from time to time by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment shall be covered by the said sub quota," an official source said.

Sources said the decision was unanimous, though Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi (Trinamool Congress) was not present in the meeting.

According to reports, the Central government announced the decision as there are reports that the Election Commission may announce Assembly elections in five states on Friday. The government would not have been able announce it owing to the model code of conduct.

It should be noted that the controversial issue of Muslim reservation has been in constant limelight with the Congress leaders continuously indicating that the government is serious about the issue.

Earlier, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid had announced that the government will bring the reservation for minorities soon.

Speaking at a public rally in Kanpur along with Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Khurshid had said, “Government is serious about bringing reservation for minorities. A decision in this regard will be taken soon.”

Maintaining that the government must fulfill the promises it made, Khurshid had earlier said, "We are elected to do what we promised. Before the five years are out, we must fulfill our promises."

Khurshid had said the government would soon take a decision on providing reservation for "backward Muslims" by including them in the 27 per cent OBC quota and a proposal in this regard would soon come up before Cabinet

West Bengal announces reservation for Muslims in govt jobs
KOLKATA: On a day when the Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down job reservation for Muslims, the West Bengal government on Monday announced 10 per cent quota in employment for the community under the OBC category.

The state government declared the quota for the Muslims who were educationally, socially and economically backward in the state.

"We have decided to accept the recommendations of the Ranganath Mishra Commission and will take steps to implement it," chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee told newsmen at the state secretariat without waiting for the Centre's decision on the report. said like other states there was reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs in the state. The government, he said, had begun the process of identifying Muslims who were educationally, socially and economically backward. There was 7 per cent reservation for OBCs in the state.

"After identification, we will provide reservation to them under the OBC category," the chief minister said.

Earlier in the day, a Constitution bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court struck down a state law providing 4 per cent reservation in educational institutions and jobs to 15 groups belonging to the Muslim community.

Soon after the court's order, Andhra chief minister K Rosaiah directed the state advocate general D S R Murthy to file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court challenging the verdict.

There is a difference between the government saying it has "approved the quota", & the minority actually availing the quota. In a country like India, the government says one thing, but most of the time, it does not have any reality to it.

Benefits of entitlements meant for the backward classes are yet to reach Muslim OBCs. The condition of Muslims in general is also lower than the Hindu-OBCs who have the benefit of reservations.

Again, this is what the government claims, which has little to no bearing to reality. The statistics of the Indian Muslims in West Bengal speak for themselves. West Bengal has a Muslim population of 25%. Muslims have a 2% share of reservation in West Bengal under the OBC, whereas Hindus that are 71% of the state population are enjoying reservation as Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST). Despite being 25% of the West Bengal population, Muslims hold only 2.2% of the government jobs in the state.

I don't understand why do our Indian members have to keep flaunting the band and pandering to Pakistani insecurities by constantly brandishing the state of Muslims?

This secularist bug is getting a little too big. What about other communities? Nobody tells about us folks here. Nobody know what we do. And you don't see us complaining how we're getting discriminated. What's this special love for show Muslims each time?

Those who hate us WILL NEVER believe us. So why do Indian members have to be so desperate to gain their nods?

I agree 100% with you bro.

I am from a microscopic minority myself. "Non Dharmic" apparently as per a Pakistani poster here.

In my early days here I felt this genuine need to represent my country correctly and in a balanced manner here when it came to these issues.

Especially so as I was a non-Hindu and felt my word would carry greater weight for those on the other side.

But then the light dawned.

Its not about concern for Indian Muslims. No sir.

It is about getting vicarious thrills from showing them down.

After all, aren't these the 50% that did not go across when it mattered?

Frankly, I would defend the state of our Muslims to anyone but a Pakistani or a Bangladeshi.

They have not earned that right.

If You say muslim obc To hindu Obc ,,, then won't contridict coz % of Muslims Specially IN OBC class is very low as in islam there no caste system so the govt finds it hard to recognice the actual class of muslims which are falling inder OBC . but if u are comparing the whole muslim of india lower then the Hindu OBC Class then i strongly disagree with you.

We are talking about parallels: OBC's with OBC's, SC's with SC's, ST's with ST's.

The Presidential Order of 1950 deprives Dalits belonging to Christian, Parsi and Muslim communities from the constitutional facilities being availed by Scheduled Castes of Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist communities, a violation of Articles 14, 15, 16 and 25 of the Constitution that guarantee equality of opportunity, freedom of conscience and protect the citizens from discrimination by the State on grounds of religion, caste or creed.

There is no justification for the state's discrimination against them. Also, read this article:

Reservations for SC, ST, OBC, etc etc etc are all crap anyways. Most of us have felt the pinch since our school days.

Ditto reservation on the basis of one's religion. Once again, most of us have felt this in college.

What we need instead is a credible, non cumbersome, transparent, and executable system to help those sections of our society that are truly backward economically.

Spend our rupee where it is really needed.

For by doing that, we will widen the population base that will generate many more rupees.

Its a self perpetuating cycle.

I am not a jholadhaari socialist. But this is what makes the most sense to me.
