Indian defence minister to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar next month
NEW DELHI: Defence minister A K Antony will be visiting Saudi Arabia and Qatar in early-May to bolster defence cooperation with the two countries which have close links with Pakistan. Antony's visit to Saudi Arabia comes just over a year after PM Manmohan Singh visited the country to ink 10 bilateral agreements as well as issue a Riyadh declaration to cement the bilateral relationship.
Though not as extensive as Pakistan's, India has forged military ties with both Saudi Arabia and Qatar over the last several years with bilateral visits and exchange programmes. Anti-piracy measures will also figure in the discussions to be held during Antony's visit from May 7 to 9.
