New Delhi: The Army has carried out a two-day airborne insertion and rapid response exercise in the country's peninsular region in sync with its overall approach to maintain operational readiness, officials said.
The exercise that concluded on Tuesday involved advanced aerial insertion techniques, or air dropping of soldiers, "combat free fall" and integrated battle drills by airborne and special forces troops.

"The airborne and special forces of the Indian Army practiced their aerial insertion capability and rapid response anywhere on the mainland and in its island territories, in an airborne exercise in Peninsular India on March 14 and 15," said an official.
"The exercise involved advanced aerial insertion techniques, including combat free fall and integrated battle drills by airborne and special forces troops," the official added.

The exercise came 10 days after the Army's airborne and special forces carried out aerial insertion and related drills in the Siliguri corridor along the northern border with China.

Airborne troops were inserted into a Drop Zone at an altitude of more than 14,000 feet. Pre-acclimatized troops along with specialist vehicles and missile detachments were transported through C-130 and AN 32 aircrafts from five different mounting bases to validate inter-theatre move, precision stand-off drops, rapid grouping and capture of designated objs with speed and surprise.

The drop was particularly challenging due to the low temperatures of upto minus 20 degrees and rarefied atmosphere in super high altitude terrain. This is the first such exercise carried out by Indian forces in the region.

Mass airborne drops are a thing of the past it is very challenging due to modern Sam's being able to easily down the mother aircraft of paratroopers.

Mass para drops are used when hostile sectors are void of any Sam's plus they are under their own forces' control.

Mass Air drop against the Kashmiri Stone Pelters is possible but in a current scenario against two Nuclear armed adversaries with equal Air assets or Air Power its total Useless. Just for the Past couple of Months SSG are doing these exercise but Pakistan is not even bothered about even mentioning those.
Dhotis are good at TRP stunts to please the Illiterate local Janta who are totally into these Bollywood stunts.

Aqalmand logo,

Which region is or will be free from SAM and/or air superiority aircraft ? That's what both of you should be thinking about. If it's not inside Pakistan or Chinese territory, then where. Will it be an island, will it be near a coast where there is no aerial activity or sam coverage, will it occur in a third country, will it occur during phase,2 or phase3 of a conflict when SAMs and aircrafts are not operating in certain areas anymore.

For these air drops you need a complete air Superiority and enemies Ground and air assets taken out. Otherwise now a days their is No surprise Incursion via Air . A total war with air Dominance etc can be followed up with these stunts . Yea for the Airborne forces it's good to exercise regularly that's what this exercise is for and not for any message to anyone . Unwanted Hyped created by the Neighbours.

Disappointed that you failed to think/analyse outside the box as if Indian Military isn't aware that armchair generals on online forums know this stuff already. Anyways, carry on.

How many of these army men are radicalised and rogue?
Majority of them. Their was one incident when they initiated a CFV with a Sniper attack on our post. We retaliated in a befitting manner but after a sound thrashing on the Poonch sector their Unit Commander admitted that it was not permitted by him but some Rogue Soldier is behind the individual action and he is looking into the Matter.

No need to . Their was GB plan by them which was jointly Countered in Galwan. This info is enough for you man.

These outdated "train with yourself" exercises of dinosaur era don't bother anyone.
The exercise was conducted in high alt areas opposite China, however considering Indian mentality, does Pakistan Army employ a paratrooper formation (apart from SSG), that can conduct an airborne exercise of this magnitude ?

The colonial infrastructure of the Indian armed forces relies heavily on recruiting potential from radical theologies like martial or superior race and caste and religious supremacy.

It's just not a viable option anymore IMHO the modern battlefield is very hard for mass troop drops .

I hope someday nation gets rid of this "lakeer k fakeer" thinking.
And you are thinking we would be discussing that on PDF. As I said we are doing the same for past two Months but we are not beating the drums like our Hyper sensetive neighbours . Let them do whatever they are doing in their own controlled area we are not Oblivious from their activities. But again the surprise factor is Not anymore in the Kashmir region for these Kind of Incursion from all the sides be they are Chinese , Indians or Pakistan. As those areas are highly fortified with high tech equipments and other assets.
