What's new

India will develops a new series of SLV

How soon will India be able to launch 100 tonnes to LEO and 50 tonnes to GTO. any ideas??

I want India to lift equal or more weight then US.. :-)

I was talking about all stages

general policy- last time we tried to buy engines our projrcts got delayd for over 10 years.

I understand you bro ...

We have a long experience about russians !

I think it was more the MTCR issue than russians. They did want to transfer the tech but the US threw in the spanner by bringing up MTCR restrictions.

& what russians owned instead !?

this is like a business for russians !

No even the russians couldn't do much. India is not a signitory to MTCR.

But the good thing is that because of this experience India had increase it's R&D efforts and become self sufficient.

I'm saying MTCR does not allow for any such crucial tech to come down to us. So possibility of using any engine, first stage or not, does not exist.

We co-developed the Vikas Viking engine with the French in the past .

Although I don't know how much the news is true ,

Ukraine and India will continue working on a joint project Jasmine, which involves the development of rocket engine for Indian rocket carriers, reports press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. This was highlighted during the meeting between the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Alexander Pinsky and the chairman of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on March 19-22, 2013, in India.

That was before MTCR came into force. This one surprises me. (Russian engines are spectacularly efficient BTW)

The report only says about a rocket engine for rocket carriers . No clear specifications .

It is only the source in OP that talks about RD-810 as the first stage for ULV But it is a blog I guess .

one more day.....:smitten:

How long before we build something like this baby?

Saturn V - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

120,000 kg to LEO
45,000 to GTO

They developed this all the way back in the 70s. We should at least try to develop something that can do half as much by the mid of the next decade.

We've not been able to put together an engine, the Kaveri, for the Tejas which we've been trying for the past three decades and we're thinking of making fancy ULV engines?

Of course the technology is quite different. But......

There is nothing fancy about Cryogenic engine and semi-cryogenic engine .

We are making steady progress in both fields .

The Indian Semi-cryo engine and the Ukrainian RD-810 has amazingly close operational parameters ...... :woot: ..... Something is fishy ..... :D
