Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday asked India to appreciate his country's efforts in curbing terrorism and said the two countries should de-link their peace process from incidents of terror to make dialogue a "sustainable proposition".

Gilani, who made the remarks while addressing participants at a national conference of the Pakistan chapter of the South Asia Free Media Association last evening, said Pakistan and India should resolve all outstanding disputes through peaceful means.

"I call upon India to appreciate our efforts in curbing terrorism that poses the biggest internal threat to our national interests, ethos and values.”

"Pakistan and India should resolve their disputes, especially on Kashmir, through peaceful means and productive dialogue," he said.

"We should de-link the peace process from incidents of terrorism to make composite dialogue a sustainable proposition," Gilani said.

Pakistan, he said, wants "peaceful coexistence and friendly relations" with the countries of South Asia and the world.

"My government is for normalising relations with India. We believe that terrorism and extremism constitute the major challenge for not only Pakistan and India but also all peoples of South Asia," he pointed out.

Gilani also said Pakistan wants the resumption of the stalled composite dialogue with India, "who must reciprocate our good intentions".

The Premier's remarks on better relations and the call for New Delhi to appreciate Islamabad's efforts to curb terrorism coincided with a visit to India by US President Barack Obama.

Gilani also said Pakistan wished to benefit from its geo-strategic location to revive traditional trade routes for the benefit of the people of adjoining regions.

"We will continue to strengthen SAARC and are ready to take measures on mutually beneficial basis," he said.

"The entire South Asian region is blessed with rare gifts of nature. Let us resolve to use our natural resources to overcome the sufferings of our teeming millions. Let us not allow despair to defeat hope," he said.

Gilani welcomed SAFMA's proposal to hold the third Indo-Pak Parliamentary Conference in Islamabad in the near future and assured the organisation of his government's cooperation. India should appreciate Pakistan efforts: Gilani

another ridiculous statement....why do we de link terrorism and peace talk. you continue killing our people and want us to reciprocate in a sweet manner.

few years back we are in a mess because of terrorism but now pakistan is in a bigger mess because of that....you have to reap what you have sow.

A question for Mr.Gilani................what else Pakistan has to offer on the table except for Talk about non-state actors of Pakistan??????

How can Pakistan expect that only things that benefit Pakistan showed be dealt???

Pakistan is fighting terrorists, but it must be accepted by Indians that freedom fighters are not terrorists.

Also, instead of making a drama after each incident, India and Pakistan should resolve that the dialog will continue regardless of extremist and terrorist incidents.

if we explodes bombs in your cities will you continue talking with us??? if there is a problem between two neighbours and their childrens are fighting, what you will do first, stop the fighting between the childrens or let the childrens do fighting and do the talk?? isn't that hard to understand??

As long as they keep voicing their concerns with violence, driving out other ethnic groups, protesting by burning government buildings schools houses, markets, bomb blasts etc. They will always remain as terrorists.

Why should we appreciate you , Pakistan ??

You are not doing a social service in rooting out these terrorists..You are just doing a great service to yourself.

When was the last time a bomb exploded in an Indian city ?? And when was the last time the same happened in Pakistan ??

The same terrorists you created for jihad in Afghanistan,Kashmir under what was that scheme's name - -ahhh the bleeding by thousand cuts, are doing much more than India could have ever done to you.

Wake up.
