India, not China, best suited to lead developing world: Indian FM

India is showing progress in a number of domains (acknowledged).
India also has democracy (acknowledged).

But - Indian establishment needs to focus on how to control Hindu extremism, treat minorities in a better way or create a culture of interfaith harmony, and address the issue of IOK. These measures will show whether India can be a role model society or not.

China should learn from India's foreign policy, which is simple and direct and should not consider international image or long-term interests.

What is Hindu extremism, why you think minorities are being treated unfairly and why do you think there is no interfaith harmony?

Plus J&K is a done case, both you and me know LoC is de-facto IB now.

I wanted to know your opinion, not western media propaganda pieces.

Every nation tries to promote their own country, India is doing the same.
What he means is, someone indulged in concentrating own population in the forced labour camp shouldn’t lead anyone at all.

Now, I request all Chinese members and their cheerleaders to say that it’s a lie, propaganda and a conspiracy against China.
A small question - why do Indians believe that the Third World is led by China? How did Indians come to this conclusion?

I wanted to know your opinion, not western media propaganda pieces.
Independent take on Hindu extremism are propaganda pieces?

There are all types of Western sources out there. Some are propaganda outlets, others are professional sources. The assumption that Western sources are all propaganda pieces is asinine. Those who are guilty take this extreme position.

Indians are a diverse bunch - some are good and humble - others are lacking in values and some are extremists. It is the responsibility of the Indian state to control extremism in all of its ways and forms.

India is what is called a failed democracy because they did not arrive at it organically meaning democracy has actually become a method of a lack of accountability/punishment for political leaders who only serve themselves while happy to keep most of the country dirt poor in slums. Democracy is good if you have a hard working smart society that wants to do better and be accountable and reached it through years of slavery, colonisation and is rich enough to explore new political systems. Giving a poor country democracy is giving the poor country leadership who can not be touched and accountable to no one which is why poor countries...stay poor.

Hyperpower India is filling every niche and gap left by China ever since the start of the trade wars and the pandemic.

Militarily India has locked China in a defensive war as well in the Himalayan corridor.

No one is ready to chain the elephant.

The Chinese will be kicking a$$ and taking names.

Chaining elephants is not in their plan.

India has staked a claim as the leading voice of the developing world in an “emerging multipolar order”, casting itself at the United Nations General Assembly as a better fit for the role than other regional powers like China.

Addressing the general assembly in New York on Tuesday, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar cited Sri Lanka’s economic downturn, which India and many Western countries and their allies have blamed on Beijing’s “debt diplomacy”.

“When Sri Lanka experienced a severe economic crisis, it was India that first stepped forward,” India’s top diplomat said.

Even in distant regions, partners like the Pacific island nations “have appreciated our contributions to meet their needs in health, in technology and in climate action”, he added.

Jaishankar said “so many nations” identified with India because of its history, geography and culture. As an aspiring leading power, India had “never been seen as being in contradiction with global good”.

“This is not for self-aggrandisement, but to take on greater responsibility and make more contributions,” he added. “The goals we have set for ourselves will make us different from all those whose rise preceded ours.”

At a time when “East-West polarisation is so sharp and the North-South divide so deep”, the success of the Group of 20 summit held recently in New Delhi proved India targeted “the key concerns of the many, not just the narrow interests of a few”, he said.

With its expanding diplomatic and economic clout globally as tensions between the US and China remain undimmed, India sees the present moment as ideal for becoming a leader of the Global South – a role China also prizes.

“China opposes hegemonism, power politics, unilateralism and Cold War mentality,” Vice-President Han Zheng said.

“A small number of countries have arbitrarily imposed illegal and unilateral sanctions, severely undermining the harmony and stability of international relations,” he added. “The international community should jointly resist such acts.”

The sentiment was echoed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the World Political Parties Summit in Beijing in March, during which he offered to share his country’s experiences in modernisation with other countries.

China’s Communist Party is willing to exchange and share experience with political parties of all countries … so we can do more good for our people and people around the world,” Xi said.

To counter China’s more prominent regional and global stature, New Delhi has drawn closer to and cooperates often with the West, especially Washington.

Yet it treads a narrow path with the West, given its friendly ties with Russia and amid recent allegations of New Delhi’s involvement in the killing of an Indian dissident in Canada.

“The power of markets should not be utilised to steer food and energy from the needy to the wealthy, nor must we countenance that political convenience determines responses to terrorism, extremism and violence,” Jaishankar said in a veiled swipe at the West and Ottawa.

“Respect for territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs cannot be exercises in cherry-picking,” he continued. “Without genuine solidarity, there can never be real trust. This is very much the sentiment of the Global South.”

Jaishankar, who is expected to visit Washington on Wednesday for a meeting with his American counterpart, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, warned that the norm of a few nations shaping the agenda “cannot go indefinitely, nor will it go unchallenged”.

“A fair, equitable and democratic order will surely emerge once we all put our minds to it … that means ensuring that rule makers do not subjugate rule takers”.

He should be talking abouts toilets and how to lead Inida to get good latrines.

In this respect China is a better example of a beneficent society to its citizens. Democracy in name only is a farce, like in India.

So what should a poor country be given? Giving a country a dictatorship is a toss of a coin. By definition you don't chose a dictator or one party system or monarch, it is imposed upon you. So when people say a country should have an intelligent technocrat or benevolent dictator or in power that is such a dumb thought since it is beyond anyones control who will come to power. No one chooses to have a democracy....choosing to have a democracy means you are already democratic.. If you cant chose you are already under a dictatorship or one party state.

So now if you are being ruled by a dictator he might me a total madman like kim jong un or that guy in Venezuela or one of the dozens of african warlords or he might be an intelligent no nonsense person who works hard. Would you leave it to luck? I don't want to make it an India China thing y but another 10-15 years of Mao and you would have been finished literally - it was a stroke of luck that you got him - with more than 50 million dying due to his wacky policies .. and a stroke of luck that he died when he did and a sane guy came to power..

Total western propaganda, Mao did make some mistakes, but the reason why Chinese still love him and western countries and India hate him is because he united China after the country suffered over a century long civil wars and division, he eliminated some evils and backward old culture and tradtions with a iron fist, leveling the field for the future development of the nation. Do you know why you India is always plagued with civil strifes, division, riots, gender discrimiation, caste discrimination, backward superstition..... cause India never had a Mao to completely tranform the nation into a science based society ready for development.

Democracy is a farce, a voter who believes cow pee can cure cancer will cast the vote for a candidate sharing the same belief, it's a vicious cycle.
