What's new

India may transfer some Migs to Srilanka: Source

maybe thats what IAF wants to convey,,,we have to make do wid tejas coz sick dpsu's need to live on n govt. unable to come up wid a solution

Genius, ask any PAF pilot what would they prefer, Rafael or JF-17.

That would require some time. Now it first has to deliver the 20 aircrafts to IAF, along with the regular delivery of Su30s. No country will wait for that long to let HAL ramp up its production rate.

for the 20 aircrafts its enough.. what IAF wanted the HAL's to increase the capacity for the future 120+ orders... for which HAL's working on. Remember For Tejas HAL has a defferent assembly plant and MKI's orders would be finished by next year, the facility would only be used for Super sukoi program

Why has Sri Lanka not opted for Kfir Block 60? That would solve a lot of problems

I know dude. I only wanted to state the primary objective of HAL now is to deliver the ordered jets to IAF. I don't think they will have excess capacity for exports, surely not for a couple of years.

Maybe because India offered the jets free of cost.

I know this might be free of charge, but Sri Lanka is better off buying something than taking any MIG corpses India has....

Yes - 5 SQDs of Prototypes.. :coffee:
Please go and update the status on Wikipedia before inducting a JF17 trainer jet and be a laughing stock.

Technically JF17 will remain a prototype until a Twin seat trainer is inducted.:p:
So technically speaking then F35 is also a prototype :D

What bull shit?

Sri Lankan must be stupid to go for such stupid offer.

Why leave a jf17 for retired jet and hope for a Tejas which iaf declined?

Must be some serious pressure. Diplomacy

Which aircraft didnt have flaws??? there's something called FOC.. all the problems will be taken care, most of the problems are sorted out with tejas MK1A

Totally agreed that nothing is flawless. But if flaws are undermining operational readiness and having effects on performance then would anyone like to go for that? IAF even went to an extent to complain that handed over aircraft was having incomplete manuals and publications. Tejas has got nothing to do with it but the management is the one who should be held responsible for handing over an aircraft for operational duty which was not ready yet. Had they waited a few months more then everything would have been sorted out and the foreign maal lobby would have had nothing substantial to utter against Tejas. Is the case so?

Sri Lanka is focused on improving its Navy.
May they do not want to waste $300-400 million on jets when they have no aerial threat.

They must have started construction and will start testing next year,no sources its my intution because hal was able construct lca navy in a year, though first flight happened after a year or so,after construction of np1 was complete.
AESA was decided to be installed on Tejas in Oct 15,,, hence it is to be installed on MK2,,, as MK1A is already on final design phase,, so hold on dear,,, its just announced,, it takes years to integrate and test ...

MK1A is nothing but Tejas MK1 with additions like AESA radar, EW suit etc. and also it will be much lighter.
AESA is announced in oct 15,,, hence it cant be MK1A,,, its MK2,,, Radar is main component,,, will take years in design integration and testing,,, it is just decided,,, not even evaluated and you guys are having wet dreams ...

BD and Myanmar should also make public their plans to buy the JF-17s so that they might also get Indian jets free of charge the way Sri Lanka has(according to the Indians) :enjoy:
