Indian 'South Block' has been running with cash bags to US Congressmen and defense pundits for years in order to block the sale of Attack Helicopters to Pakistan.

Since 2002 Pakistan has been requesting the US for the sale of AH-64D Apache Longbow or AH-1Z Viper as a primary requirement. Pakistan's old AH-1F/S Cobras are handicapped. Their ability to detect and kill Taliban insurgents at night is next to nothing. With dumb rockets and a gun with no credible night ops capabilities it can only fulfill a limited numbers of roles.

Pakistani military officials say that Indians have lobbied so hard to block the sales of these copters that they added provisions in their own Apache purchase that Pakistan won't be sold this capability even when its direly needed in the full knowledge of CENTCOM and Pentagon. The Indians ditched Mi-28E and angered Russia for keeping AH-64D or AH-1Z away from being sold to Pakistan.

Pakistani officials are of the opinion that the insurgents attack checkposts at night and Cobras can't operate effectively at night. Microwave milimeter radar, motion sensor integrated, thermal, infrared electro optical targeting turrets along with integrated avionics, Datalink and HMS are the core requirements for effectively tracking and killing the Taliban at night and day.

Pakistani experts believe that India is lobbying so hard to give Taliban, which is its proxy a tactical advantage over the Pakistani forces. The US has refused to sell both Apache and Zulu due to Indian lobby. They are even trying to block the sale of US made Turboshaft engines to Turkey, which wants to sell its T-129 ATAK gunship to Pakistan which has similar capabilities to AH-1Z and Apache.

Pakistan needs to make it clear if the US is going to clear those gunships or engines for Turkish gunships. If the US wants to toe the Indian line and give the animals who massacre our kids a tactical advantage, we should opt for Mi-28NE from Russia and cease all counter terrorism cooperation with the Pentagon and Langley.

Any source for this or just your own imagination.

Even if India does lobby to prevent sales of Apache gunships to Pakistan, how does it prove that we are supporting terrorists. Apache is a very potent system and can be used against us in case of a war so why shouldn't we try to prevent its sale.

and this is not the first time we have done that and i don't know what he is expecting from an enemy country.

at one point Taliban was brother, mujahid, asset against India, used in Kashmir in 90s and later it became enemy no 1. Same can be said about USA. Pakistanis dont know whether US is friend or foe.
When a nation does not have its policies set straight then it keeps changing sides and comes up with lots of conspiracy theories.

I guess there is only so far a leading partner in fight against terrorism can go. Don't blame your short comings on India.

@Horus

If US wants to sell something to Pakistan then nobody can stop it

MAY be US just does not want to sell these things to Pakistan

Considering the pak economy they can afford AH 64D sovunirs to be placed in drawing room of nawaz sharif and can a mi35 withstand the impact of sterla?

@Horus

US DOES not want to sell even OLD Perry class Frigates to Pakistan

This is the latest News but it shows US attitude towards pakistan

Gone from earlier versions of the bill are proposed transfers of frigates to Thailand and Pakistan. Those ships were removed from consideration by concerns about the May military coup in Thailand, after which the US government canceled numerous military deals and engagements with the country, and a number of political conditions attached to ongoing military aid to Pakistan.

Source : US Frigates Approved For Transfer – Finally

SO instead of blaming India ; Pakistan must think of ways and means to
PLEASE the USA

or may be US and Taliban have joined hands..who knows. explains everything..US pulling out..Pakistan's fight against terrorism hindered, Indian consulates, RAW agents, no helicopters to Pakistan, India's aggresion on border, terrorism in pakistan, corruption in pakistan.

So much nonsense, half truths and blatant lies within one article.

1)IF India was lobbying to prevent an Apache sale to Pakistan it wouldn't be the to give any sort of edge to the Taliban but to prevent these advanced weapons posing a threat to India's conventional military supremacy- nothing more. Let's not live in a make believe world- most of Pakistan's arms purchases and weaponry are aimed at INDIA and NOT at the Taliban. (arguably something like the Super Tucano is FAR more effective in COIN ops but why has the PAF not acquired anything like this but are buying more F-16s??)

But if India has somehow included a clause in their AH-64E buy that this helo won't be sold to Pakistan (I doubt it)- good for them! This is the kind of games India needs to start playing.

2)The notion that the Apache in Pakistani service would somehow be the turning point in the "war" against them is as laughable as the notion that it is the only helo out there with such capabilities. The Mi-28 also has Microwave milimeter radar, motion sensor integrated, thermal, infrared electro optical targeting turrets along with integrated avionics, datalink and HMS. Why hasn't Pakistan purchased any of these? Oh that's right, you can't afford it.

3) The T-129 doesn't have the same capabilities as the T-129 (no Microwave milimeter radar) so that is patently false.

Stop painting Pakistan as some hapless victim being bullied by evil India, it is neither true nor can it be doing your national identity any good. Boo hoo you weren't given the latest generation of American gunships (most likely on aid), poor you. Stop trying to spin this as some evil Indian plot and then to take it one step further and make out this is India handing some sort of advantage to the Taliban,please...........

Read this news ; Pakistani delegation WAS in the USA

Pakistan is also expected to urge the Americans to sell the upgraded versions of the AH 1F Cobra helicopters. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s (SIPRI) arms trade database suggests that US provided Pakistan some 26 Cobra AH1-Fs between 2007 and 2010. These helicopters form the backbone of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts in the northwest.

The United States further provided $750,000 in 2010 to upgrade the Cobras but extensive usage in the ongoing offensive against the militants has caused considerable wear and tear of the entire fleet. According to the INP, Pakistan has already asked the US to provide it with the AH1-Z (Zulu) versions of the Cobra series, a request that is yet to be facilitated, as the Americans don’t have excess hardware available.
