India Informally Protests To Lanka About Pakistani Demo on Kashmir

COLOMBO: India has unofficially told the Sri Lankan government that it is concerned about the Pakistan High Commission-organized anti-Indian demonstration on Kashmir held here on July 21.

About 20 people, including members of the Pakistan-embassy sponsored Kashmir Study Forum, demonstrated before the UN office on Bauddhaloka Mawatha, holding placards asking the UN Secretary General and the UN Human Rights Council to take up with India the “grave violations of human rights” in Kashmir.

In a letter addressed to Sri Lankan media organizations dated July 20, the Pakistan High Commission requested coverage for the demonstration. It said that a memorandum to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be handed over by the protesters.

According to sources, India told the Lankan authorities that its objection is not to Sri Lankan nationals protesting against India on one issue or the other, but to the Pakistan High Commission’s using Sri Lankan soil to stage protests against India. Such undiplomatic conduct might start an unpleasant trend, New Delhi warned.

The Pakistan High Commission regularly organizes a Kashmir Day seminar in which Pakistanis and Sri Lankans participate but the event is held within the precincts of the High Commission.

Absolutely nothing.. This is what democratic society entails.. Freedom of expression and the freedom to peaceful assembly, Nobody broke the law so India does not have a say in it

You cant have it both ways, In India there are daily agitations in Tamil Nadu against Sri Lanka, Endorses separatism and these are not just fringe groups but state government and state assembly that pass resolutions of separatism against another sovereign nation.. If the GOSL goes on to protest every time some bunch of clowns in Madras jumping jigs against Sri Lanka, There wont be any other thing to do

Freedom Ok.
But does this actually concerns SL?
Even if there was the Tamil dispute with SL.We didnt staged protest against SL in a third nation ,say US.Right?
Infact most of the time we covered the SL when UN hinted their usual arrogance in SL.
I would say this freedom of expression is totally unnecessary.
In reality this dramas neither affects the India nor the Pakistan. But SL may force to think about their relation with India.

Yes if it concerns sections of the Sri Lankan citizenry.. They have every right to protest peacefully

Even if there was the Tamil dispute with SL.We didnt staged protest against SL in a third nation ,say US.Right?

What do you reckon is better then, Arming, abetting , Funding and training a terrorist group to wreck havoc in another sovereign nation ? Or watch passively by when a state government passes resolution of separation of a sovereign nation ?

Indian government refrained siding with the US just once along with 48 other nations, Four other times they went ahead siding with resolutions by the West to interfere in to internal issues of a sovereign country, Even though they them selves were in danger of censure over what was happening in Kashmir.. Rest of Asia voted against the US and the EU, Showing their solidarity with SL

So please dont flatter yourself, India has no moral high ground what so ever to stand on

That applies to India and it's media as well then, Don't make excuses or whinge when the ball is in your court

With all the anti Sri Lankan shenanigans going on with clowns in Madras calling it freedom of expession, This is a case of whats good for the goose is good for the gander

In reality this dramas neither affects the India nor the Pakistan. But SL may force to think about their relation with India

Neither does it affect Sri Lanka, SL will make it's relationship with India according to it's own interests and mutual benefits, Nobody else has a say in it.. Certainly not in a case when a group of Sri Lankan citizens protest on their interests

So India behaving like a hegemon again? How dare these puny countries around us allow their citizens the freedom to demonstrate. Jeez.

Is there any Kashmiris or Indians in SL ?
What right are your talking about ?

Yes it indeed was a wrong decision and action .But does any one force you to allow Pak ships in there during wars ?
It was the same mistake you did at that time. You dont know the real depth of nuisance that makes by Pakistan
TN Govt .Not Centre .Right ?
State Govt has limited voice in international issues .

Why should we support since you allow protest of some other nations in your land ?
Kashmir dispute is none of your business .

Only TN .Right ?
That doesnt show the opinions of other Indians .You should only cares about the decision makes by South Block in New Delhi

I dont think so .
SL dont have any stakes in Kashmir dispute .And by allowing such dramas you are doing the same mistake that did in 1971 .TN is asking more including Kachateev island .But our Govt didnt allowed that .
All I am say is that donot involve in issue that SL cant deal and SL are not capable for that.
Still we have several trump cards to deal any problems that questions our integrity

It does not matter they were protesting about Kashmir or Timbuktu for that matter, Any Sri Lankan has the constitutional right to speak and express about what ever issue they deem passionate about, Including protest in peaceful manner, As long as they dont break the law it's non of any other's business, Not the Government of Sri Lanka and certainly not the Indians or their government

Surprising coming from you since you have been harping and complaining thread after thread about outsiders commenting on Internal matters of India.. Lol

I think SOME of you Indians way over estimate yourselves and your government, Getting caught in this hyperbole created by your media and propaganda arms of the state.. You see what you consider significant to you is really not that significant to us non Indians or to other countries.. Once you realize that i'm sure you will find yourself think more rational

People have a right to protest for any reason they like. It's a fundamental human right. India has no right inquire about such an issues of a sovereign nation.

Sri Lanka wasn't a belligerent of Indo-Pak war of 1971. Therefore you or India have no right to question about which ships had docked in our harbors back in 1971.

Why should we support since you allow protest of some other nations in your land ?
Kashmir dispute is none of your business .

So is Sri Lankan civil war. It's not even India's business.

I dont think so .

India cannot take Katchchithivu island unless they use force. That cessation was done according to International law. I don't think there are any doubt about the procedure of the cessation.

What are India's trump cards? Like to hear about them.
