India exporting English to China

could be a christian pakistani. btw, what have you got with Sky? have you got the whole package or just the phone? i personally dont pay my money to go to mordoch's pocket. i find virgin alot better, this time i am gona change it to Talk Talk. with talk talk, you can get free calls to europe, north america, aussie and n.zealand.

Yea could be but every call centre guys in India has a alternative name too Ahmed ;) Heck i too have different MSN ids for tech support :partay:

But i think in call center jobs accent is very important..you should learn your customers accent..right ?

yes certainly in call centres ( they have a lot of specialisation in accent training)....but the vast majority of English speaking managers ,entrepreneurs and skilled workers successfully use their indian accent and have no trouble in interacting with westerners for business purposes....all that really matters is fluency.......

There is no question that fluency is very important, but accent is very important too, we can do alot about the fluency, but little can be done about accent, i cant change my Penglish accent(persian english) to a better version, same thing goes to the indian fellows. but if you live among the people, it can certainly have some positive effect on your accent, i am seeing a great deal of difference in my accent+pronounciation since i have been living here. Trust me a number of times my work mates hanged up on the call center guys because they dditn understand what they were saying.

I agree .....especially the bold part ...this has happened several times in call centres in bangalore.....and the client country was mainly australia.....there was a news report about this in bangalore news....but its unfortunate that nothing much can be done about it.....

English of average chinese joe is really pathetic. Just try to go through the manual of some cheap chinese electronics and you will know what i mean :D :D

How ever the main stream Chinese intellect speaks perfect english with the right accent.

Why should we be ashamed of the accent though? I mean true, its funny as hell sometimes but id rather have that, than a fake british accent. I love how we have to over emphasize the T's so but becomes BUTTE :P
