India Developing, but still a long way to go

Bandra Worli Sealink? That ill-designed project that should have been built 30 years ago?

China has atleast two dozen such bridges that are much, much longer. Hell, even Malaysia and Thailand had built longer bridges in the 80s and 90s.

Just 2 example:

Shanghai Changxing Yangtze River tunnel-bridge project

Mate...its clear that you did not see or understood the video ad...the ad is not about Bandra Worli sea link ...its about the attitude of some of us Indians !!!

I call these people eternal pessimistic...or eternal cynics..!!!

Don't blame intelligent indians for being cynics. Only a fool would buy the
"India SHining" propoganda.

No One is saying that you are not intelligent...but you missed one thing..this thread title is "India devloping, But still a long way to go". I myself for once never believed in BJP's so called India Shining stunt itself..travelling all across India and seen towns and villages myself.

Salman....Not the right attitude brother.....We cant compare each and every development with China...we dont want to be the jealous neighbor....though no harm in healthy competition!!!

I completely agree with you, that the Bandra-Worli Sealink was a badly mismanaged project which probably should have been completed a long time ago,.....

However this does not mean that it fails to be an achievement....

For us Indians, development comes at a heavy price of time and money.....recently we have seen a lot of projects pick up speed.....I personally can attest to a few projects completed in a timely manner in Mumbai....
We have to learn to be optimistic.....Babugiri, beauraucracy, red-tapism isnt going to go away in a day.....

Besides...."Rome wasnt built in a day" either!

This is nothing. In China, there are more than 150 buildings under-construction above 300 mts in height. In the city of Chonqing itself, more than 20 300+ mts buildings and more than 100 buildings of 200+ mts height under construction.

There is literally NO COMPARISON.

I think other guys here do not understand what you are attempting to convey But I think I do. we surely cannot be complacent with our little achievenments and its true that Chinese cities are way way ahead of Indian cities. The dragon has raced ahead by miles and we need to up the ante to catch it. We may or may not be able to match China ever but, atleast if we try harder we might end up making our lives and our country better.

^Thank you.

Pataliputra (Patna) was described by the Greek Historian Megasthenes as "the greatest city on earth".

It breaks my heart to see the disgusting, evil, foul society in that region today. No visitor to Patna will ever believe that this place was the capital of the one of the greatest empires in the history of the world. The city of flowers. The city whose great temples and palaces were renowned throughout the known world.

India is developing correct, still long way to go is also correct. We have recently increased our development speed and it seems to be going in right direction. I do not want to compare with China or anyone, you cannot compare someone else decades of hard-work to a country who has just started. The same thing will apply to Pakistan in future when they try to catch up with India.

MUMBAI: The Statue of Liberty, a gift to the United States by France, will soon be upstaged by an equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, off the coast of Mumbai. The height of the latest tribute to the Maratha king will be 309 feet, making it taller than the Statue of Liberty, which is 305 feet from the pedestal to the top of the flaming torch.

The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday approved a design submitted by Bensley Design Studios, Thailand and Team One Architects, Mumbai.

The government has approved Rs. 50 crore for the memorial in 2009-10 and budgeted Rs. 300 crore more the next year. There will be a museum on the Maratha king.

The government had announced a worldwide competition to create a design for the memorial and had decided to give away prizes to the top three ideas. Eleven firms submitted designs.
