A massive procession was taken out by Shia community members on the occasion of birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali (RA) from old city areas to the Kohe-Moula Ali Shrine in Malkajgiri. The procession, amidst tight security, passed through Kachiguda, Barkatpura, Vidyanagar, Tarnaka, Lalaguda and reached the Moula Ali Shrine late in the night.

Chitra Singh arrives Varanasi, to perform at Sankat Mochan Music festival
Noted Ghazal singer Chitra Singh reached Varanasi on Friday evening to take part in the Sankat Mochan music festival beginning from Saturday. It is her first visit to the city.

She will perform at Sankat Mochan temple on the inaugural day of the six-day music festival. She will also pray to Lord Hanuman for the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna to her husband and Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh. It will be her first stage performance at the temple after 1991. She has not given stage performance after the death of their son in a car accident.


Prof. Vijay Nath Mishra, the younger brother of mahanth Prof. Vishwambhar Nath Mishra, received Chitra Singh and welcomed her. "After arriving here she talked to mahanthji over phone and took his blessings", he told to TOI.


Sankat Mochan temple established by great poet Tulsidas has been holding the music festival on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti since 1923. For every musician it is a cherished to dream to perform at Sankat Mochan temple.
