According to recent media reports , first IAF Mirage-2000H upgraded to Dash 5 standards recently had its first flight in France , Mirage 2000s has been the backbone of Indian Air Force since decades. The French multirole, single-engine fourth-generation jet fighter manufactured by French-based Company Dassault Aviation was inducted in Indian Air Force in 1980s.

The upgraded version of Indian Air Force’s Mirage 2000H made its first flight at Istres-Le Tube air base in France, on Sunday. Forty-nine Mirage 2000H aircraft are being upgraded to Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 in the course of next seven years.India has paid USD 2.4 billion to upgrade its 49 jets.

As part of the USD 2.4 billion, the upgrades of Mirage 2000 fighter jet would include-
1- New avionics, including an advanced navigation system, mission computers, Mil 1553 B data with Digibus, a pulse doppler radar that can find objects out to 70 nautical miles.
2-Two displays and an advanced head-down display in a glass cockpit.
3- Electronic warfare systems, including new radar warning receivers with instantaneous wide-bank receivers, an integrated missile warning receiver with continuous time-to-impact information, and new jammers and countermeasure systems.
4- Increased fuel capacity
5- Four Derby beyond-visual-range missiles
6- Two short-to-medium-range Python V missiles
7- Long-range smart munitions
8- Full mission simulators

Excellent upgrades. Mirage had a very decent engine and robust flight control system right from the beginning. You can push it at Mach 2.2. It is capable of carrying a load over 6 tons.

Now it has got some excellent new features. Additional fuel for enhanced range, Excellent Radar, Top in the class avionics, Very potent missiles, Very potent ground attack mutations excellent EW suit and other electronics such as mission simulator etc. Now M2000 has become a real modern day multirole fighter.

I am sure that our adversaries are going to **** from this plane.

Very good news!
Little was heard of on this front except the cost involved, but it feels great to hear the impressive upgrades. Mirage 2000 is one of the most loved fighters in IAF inventory and with the upgrades, they sure will serve effectively for next decade or so, atleast

Yes now they are real multirole fighter with excellent AtoG And AtoA capability. Our enemy will find it hard not only to counter it but to escape from it,

Yes they indeed are.

Also (not sure, pl. correct if wrong), the new radar RDY 2 on Mirage 2000 is pretty impressive too.

It must be. I have heard that it is a bit down grade version of Radar Used in Rafale. Must be one of the best after AESA.

I have learnt from a French professional at another def forum that the IAF Mirages are not being
fitted with the standard RDY-2, but an improved version of RDY-2.

That improves the potency even more. Not to mention the new BVR missiles will also add teeth to the package.
As we remember Mirage 2000 had an excellent sortie rate during Kargil War and an equally impressive servicability rate and that had please IAF immensely.
Another reason why i'm a great supporter of Rafale for IAF, french engineering at its best coupled with great after sales support.

If mmrca is canceled Wat chances of increasing this fleet from 50 to perhaps 90+

Is that the range for RDY-2 Radar? Because 70nm seems less
