Hindus in Pakistan fear backlash from extremists after Ayodhya verdict

Fearing a backlash from Muslim extremists in the aftermath of the Ayodhya verdict, Hindus in Pakistan have started fleeing to safety.

Hundreds of students and clerics from the Jamia Ashrafia religious seminary in Lahore blocked the Ferozepur highway the other day protesting the verdict. They threatened to “repeat the events of 1992” if the “biased” verdict was not reversed.

After the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992, rioters in Lahore had torn down Krishna and another temple at Taxali Gate.

Jagan Nath, a commerce student from the Swat valley who has been living in Lahore for years, said a group of madrassa students blocked his way when he was going to the Krishna temple on Saturday and threatened to kill him. They allegedly warned him that if Babri Masjid was not rebuilt, the Krishna temple would be demolished again.

Another Hindu said she feared for the temple. “A mob demolished our temple in 1992. I fear the same may happen again,” the woman, who runs a garment business, said.

nothing has happened so far so even if they expected a backlash the danger has passed now..India and Indians should be worried more about gujrat style anti-Muslim riots than backlash in Pakistan.

It would be childish to assume that minorities in Pakistan havent faced backlash for their co-religionists actions in India. There were reports of Hindu temples and Sikh Gurudwaras being vandalized and burnt in 1992. But that is probably expected in a nation which has self-styled itself as the regional thekedars of Muslims. For all our fake secularism, India doesnt let its minorities face domestic repercussions of events in neighboring countries.

Off topic.

Mentioning the name Gujarat will not wash away the crimes committed against minorities mostly against hindus and Sikhs in Pakistan.

That happened 10 years ago and was the last incident of rioting while the hate crimes against Hindus and Sikhs are almost everyday occurence in Pakistan.

Because of the heavily tilted press only a few are coming out.

Anti-riot police are all over ayodhya from day of judgment , prepared for such an outcome , so far no one has come out onto the streets.

India has learned from such things. Adequate measures are being put in place now for such events.

But Extremist elements are the real problem , they will do the most harm.

why the fuss for something that is India 's internal matter and when even the Indian Muslims and maintaining calm and are talking about a outside court settlement than going to SC

OK than what happened today. Yesterday. A day before yesterday. Two days before yesterday. Or how many Hindus have been killed after the "just" decision of Ayodhia case. Case of loud mouth huh.

It is very easy to make grandiose claims by claiming that these incidents aren't reported because of tilted press, but the fact is these everyday happening incidents don't happen everyday.

And that 10 years old incident is the worst form of minority persecution present in the modern world. 10 years or 10 days it happened in "secular" India and your hero Narinder Modi the main culprit is free enjoying the fruits of Indian democrazy:)

That exactly is my concern.from such a tilted pres how can we even get to know what happened.?

BTW since you mentioned loud mouth how many Muslims were attacked in India.?

Attacks on minorities in Pakistan is much more frequent than the attack on minorities in India.
Google and you ll get to know.

Sorry to wake u up.but the Guj riots were a spontaneous outburst after 60 Hindus were burnt alive by Muslims in Godhra Station and no court of law has been able to prove Modi ji's role in it.

So innocent until proven guilty.:)

BTW have you guys punished the bigot who wrote kaffir on the body of the dead Pakistani Hindu or the mob that attacked a child just because he drank water from a mosque.?
Think they are enjoying the Fruits of the Blasphemy law.

There hasn't been any unpleasent incident so far. The verdict was a non-issue here despite the media hype. Hopefully, there won't be any in the future.

Hope so.

But sorry yaar..when some ppl here become the self-appointed guardian of the Indian Muslims,I cannot help but think of the Pakistani Hindus.

as far as i know the temple that was damaged in lahore in 1992 was repaired and extended by GOP fund.

nothing has happened so far and nothing should happen... Hindus are Pakistanis too and have nothing to do with the verdict or the incident.

I really hope my countrymen don't anything stupid

Now if Pakistan and Pakistani's love to make fuss about each and every internal matter of India, why should u r not expecting the same from us

a lot of concern about the minorities of India, show a little concern for ur minorities first

We r not concerned about and Gujarat type incident here, since not only Hindus and Muslims accepted the verdict but also they maintained calm

But what i can say about ur country, protester's were on street in ur nation for a matter which is not ur internal issue, but since u call urself's the protectors of Islam hence we feel concerned for ur minority
