According to enikos.gr, the plan elaborated by the General Staff of the Greek Army for the gradual replacement of the old M113 APCs indicates a will to run the procedures very quickly so that it can bring to Greece not only 1,200 M1117 Guardians, also designated Armored Security Vehicles (based on the Cadillac Gage V-100 and V-150 Commandos), but also 350 M2A2 Bradleys at the same time.

The Greek team that will go to the United States for the selection of vehicles from the surplus stock of the U.S. Army and the National Guards has already been selected. The Bradley M2A2s will bring much-desired support to the fleet of Leopard 2HEL (Hellenic, Greek) MBTs. This variant was developed on the basis of experience gained by the U.S. Army from Operation Desert Storm (ODS) in the Gulf, in 1993.

According to information from enikos.gr, the finalization of the departure date of the Greek team to the United States is considered a matter of weeks. The reason for not already set a firm date is linked to reasons of protection against the covid-19.

Let us remind that, un December 2019, the U.S. Government planned to donate almost 60 Bradley M2A2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles in ODS (Operation Desert Storm) configuration to Croatia, according to a statement issued by Croatian Defense Minister Damir Krsticevic, Kamenjar.com reports. The “Greek” Bradleys will obviously come from the same stock. In 2017 and 2018, Lebanon also received M2A2 Bradleys from the same stock.

Like how they received Arleigh burke class destroyers and M1 Abrams tanks years ago?

Why PA/HIT didn't try to go for Bradley upgrade for M113s??

I wouldn't be surprised if the US starts sending them hand-me-downs, US after all likes to keep the regions "balanced" and their bread and butter money rolling in from US weaponry.

They need them.

Arleigh Burkes? Sounds BS. All are active, no way we sell those.
Thats right, Pompeo is choosing if they go to Greece or Portugal (or both).
Flight I/II type for free, includes SM2MR Block-IIIB, VL-ASROC & Harpoons.
Cost saving, they needed to be upgraded, MLU to expand live from 35 to 45 years and the USN dont want to spend that Money.
Agreement includes upgrading (MLU) and ESSM Block-2 payed by the new country.
Delivery in the next 2-3 years.
Enjoy Life

it's about time they chose an IFV, however we will need to wait and see if this actually plans out since the Greeks "jump" back and forth on their deals saying they want it then claiming they don't
even if the Arleigh Burkes are exported to them, it's not concern since it will be Block I or II, which isn't a big deal since they will probably be 'Knocked down" removing high sensitive technology and advanced weaponry and retrofitted with export model technology.
however, this great news for the Hellenic Military

'Knocked down" , thats not the plan.
The USN wants to keeps those ships were they are right naw, in Southern Europe/Mediteranian. But they want them to be fully updated (MLU) like theirs, to engage in full operations, and be employed by friendly Ally Navys. That way they will be operating side by side with the USN, but cost operated by other country, MLUed by other country and keeping them at the same place. They are operated in NATO Battlegroups allready standing there, and the idea its not to have a "weaker" ship by the side. Standing NATO Maritime Groups 1 & 2 (SNMG1 & 2)

This isnt anything new. They have been trying to get these for so many years that it practically had become a meme among Greek/Turkish users. The list of weapons they were to be "donated" was ridicilous ranging from decommisioned destroyers/frigates till F-15's all the way to M1 Abrams... and all of it for free.

The transport costs are probably going to be enormous though, makes you wonder if its even worth it at this point for these decades old systems. Though they probably need them desperatly lol, i dont think the Greek army even has any active IFV's.

I think they have a few BMP-1 Osts active but nothing serious, since they been wanting to get rid of them for a long while with more modern IFVs, such as the Bradley. however, I myself, still wonder if they will receive Bradley's because Greece has the motive to say "give us" then a week or so later, decline.
