This photograph of L-1329-8 JetStar serial number 1004 is one of the few, post-revolution photographs we were able to obtain. It is used for VIP flights; and possibly, calibration flights from Tehran-Mehrabad and it previously had the registration EP-VRP.

You can discuss whether this is a civilian aircraft or not. The fact is, that you will not see many civilian aircraft equipped with a fully-operational, refuelling boom. This Boeing 747, registration EP-SHD of SAHA "airlines" is in fact, owned by the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (Service Ertebaataat Havaaee Artesh (Military Air Transport Service)). Several examples were seen at Schipol Airport in the Netherlands in 1992 and 1993.

Iran still operates a large fleet of C-130 Hercules, even after the arms-embargoes were established. The local aviation industry has developed programmes to maintain and upgrade these aircraft.

What you think is rank of Iran?
I think that ranking countries by simple things like Number of tanks and aircraft is not an accurate way of determining which country will come out on top. Just look at the Iran Iraq war and you would see that Iraq had all the numerical advantages except for Helicopter and naval fleets, yet had to resort to heavy use of chemical warfare in order to keep Iranian forces from wiping them out!

completely agree.Important factors such as extensive large scale combat experience, independence of defence industries, strategic natural resources reserves to carry on long term combat, natural train layout and patriotic fever of the fighting men are all as important as the moronic adding up of hardware elements. These rankings are made up for uninformed comatose western public. Taking into account the above mentioned parameters I think Iran and Turkey are neck and neck and Egypt far behind . Israel should not be considered since this is a military designed for Occupation control and its true capabilities are more propaganda than reality (recent performance of the so called mighty IRON DOME against crude fire crackers from Gaza is just an example).

Do you have an actual photo of Toophan II cobra showing the nose of the helicopter.. I am interested to see how they managed to replace the original (analog) optical tracking device ..may be with the FLIR ball currently used in most of the Drone ?
i have no clue bro.

Thank you and very impressive. They have done the HUD and slaved the ball and the cannon to the helmet. That is really impresive. However one last question remains... can the ball track the TOW missile to allow the gunner to keep the cross hair on the target while the helo manovers. The first photo shows only the canon no TOW missile is hanging from the pylon...it is possible they have done away with the wire guided missile version and have gone to laser beam riders or even fire and forget version...amazing achivments..
