French Navy Floreal-class Frigate in South China Sea with US Navy Stennis CSG

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) Floreal-class Frigate Vendemiaire joined the US Navy Stennis Carrier Strike Group (CSG) on April 30 2016. The French surveillance frigate joined USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) and his escort, consisting of three Arleigh Burke-class Destroyers and a Ticonderoga-class Cruiser.

The surface combatants conducted a series of tactical exercise together inlcuding:
LINKEX (communication and data link exercise)
Crossdeck (including French and US Navy sailors swapping between vessels)
ADEX (air defence exercise with some of the Stennis' F-18 fighters)

These exercises allow French Navy and US Navy crews to increase the interoperability of the vessels and enhance the mutual understanding of each other.

The surveillance frigate Vendemiaire left her base of Noumea on March 17, 2016. She is under the operational control of ALPACI (Commander of French Navy Pacific Fleet) since April 1st. Her deployment in Asia Pacific is part of the mission to ensure a French presence in the area. It allows to underline the commitment of France to the freedom of navigation at sea and in the air and to strengthen cooperation with neighboring countries through interactions at sea or in port.

Officers of French naval ship Tonnerre called at Cam Ranh Port in Khanh Hoa Province on Monday for a four-day visit.
The Mistral-class landing helicopter dock, one of the biggest ships of the French Navy, is hosting 200 cadets of the French navy and foreign navies on board.
Among other things, the ship is expected to participate in an exercise with the Vietnamese Navy, practicing drills for unplanned encounters.
Since Cam Ranh Port officially opened to foreign vessels on March 8, this is the third visit by warships from other countries following Singapore’s RSS Endurance, which came on March 17, and two Japanese destroyers, on April 12.
The French Defense Minister is scheduled to visit Vietnam in June, and the French President in the fall, the French embassy said.

The French is not even in the vicinity of any disputed islet of 200nm. What a propaganda news by the West.

Thanks lord that we don't have any claims in the south china sea.
I hope we stay out of this mess and maintain good and cordial relations with all the countries in the area.
