Current political stability of the country is not that good enough. As a result of this pro-indo-us government, it can be seen that India is engaging with taking out the maximum advantage from the situation.

I guess, there might be no elections for another 3 months. It is good if it isn't so.
Unp government has made in to an Indo-sino mess.
They are fooling not only themselves but the whole country.
I wish, there will be a definite defeat for this national government idiots.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said Chinese President Xi Jinping surprised his Sri Lankan counterpart Maithripala Sirisena during their recent meeting with the proposal.

Xi said why don’t we get India to work with us, which was seized upon by President Sirisena, who said that would be the best possible outcome. Both presidents agreed that India should be part of the equation,” Karunanayake told Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post.

He said the state-owned China Communications Construction Co (CCCC) did not have the requisite clearances, such as environmental licence, from the government.

“They run full-page advertisements in newspapers justifying their actions, but when we tell them to submit documents, they draw a blank,” Karunanayake said.

I disagree.. I think it's the vested interests and Indian and western media that had made look like one.. I dont see resetting the foreign policy to the middle as a bad thing and that does not necessarily make it India centric and anti Chinese

The problem was the idiots of the previous govt that totally screwed it.. short sighted morons totally neglected the other side of it.. We cant afford to play power politics, East against the West Or China against India.. Rajapaksa's had no option because they royally screwed up the foreign service by giving thier semi literate relations and freinds diplomatic positions in all important Western capitals.. So the people that stood by were the eternal allies Chinese, Japanese and Pakistan against a massive propaganda and secessionist movement by the highly motivated and well funded LTTE remnants in the West.. They even managed to get the EU ban on them lifted because of the incompetence of the Rajapaksa regime

What do you think would have happened if the UN report came out in March ?? The country was in a precipice.. Most people dont realize that.. Only gobble up propaganda

But what i agree with you is this UNP govt has some unwanted and dangerous people in it like Mangala Samaraweera and other idiots that shoot from the mouth.. But those are political realities.. They will have to have the gen elections by May.. hopefully the idiots will be voted out

Yes, I agree with your claims under MR's rule. That's why people opted him out.
But Sri Lanka isn't non aligned anymore as think and clearly goes along with India and USA.
If they(unp) can't resolve one project without dragging it further, I don't know how they are going to survive.
There are many bad things over good things and couldn't say this is exactly the good governance anymore.

Pakistan naval ship in Sri Lanka on goodwill visit | DailyFT - Be Empowered

Pakistan Navy Ship Zulfiquar arrived at the port of Trincomalee on 3 March on a four-day goodwill visit. This port call is part of a strong multifaceted relationship and engagement between the defence establishments of the two countries.

Pakistan Navy Ship Zulfiquar is the pioneer ship of the Sword Class, F-22P Frigate Project. The steel cuttings of the ship was held on 10 October 2006. The keel of the ship was laid on 24 July 2007 and it was subsequently launched on 7 April 2008 for sea trails.
The ship is fitted with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors and caries a Z9EC helicopter. The F-22P Project encompassed construction of three frigates in China while the fourth one was constructed at Karachi Shipyard.
A number of activities of mutual interest are planned between the two navies during the visit, including a reception on PNS Zulfiquar on 4 March and a joint exercise on 6 March.

Captain Amir Mahmood is the Commanding Officer of the visiting Pakistan Navy Ship. The Defence Advisor of Pakistan High Commission in Colombo, Colonel Muhammad Rajil Irshad Khan is coordinating the visit and activities of the visiting ship.
Earlier, PNS Zulfiquar visited Sri Lanka in September 2009 and December 2010.

Well they were certainly non aligned under the Rajapaksas were they ? Is'nt that what got them in to this mess ? President Sirisena at this very moment is in China on a state visit only his 2nd and signing a free trade agreement with the Chinese govt.. He is a key note speaker at the BAOA forum on Chinese and Asian strategic interests.. If the govt is suddenly become pro India or West why would he do something like that ? The problem is you along with many outsiders have mixed up a domestic issue regarding corruption and misappropriation as a bilateral issue with China.. Now tell me except for the suspension of the Port city project what has this govt done to be labelled as anti Chinese ?

Can you answer me this does this make this govt anti Indian as well ? One of the biggest investments by a Indian company in Sri Lanka mind you

@Capt.Popeye any idea why an ICG vessel is attached to this training group, is the ICG vessel also a training vessel ,like the others in the group, but for the ICG?

Anyway good to see the IN putting their trainees through such rigorous deployments (last week they were in Bangladesh and they sail around the region) before they join the combat fleet.

The ICG vessel is part of the 1st Trg Sqdn. because the ICG shares Trg Estts. and systems with the IN.
There is another reason, the IN is short of purpose built Trg. Ships. The INS Krishna (the old Leander Class Trg. Frigate) has not been replaced yet. Two sister-ships of INS Tir are on order but not yet commissioned; hence the Training berths are made up from ICG and the INS Kesari which is a LST.
IN even wanted a third Sail Training Ship but that will wait for some time, since it is not a critical requirement.
