politics: Fatima Bhutto

Updated at: 0400 PST, Saturday, February 09, 2008

DUBAI: Niece of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and daughter of Mir Murtaza Bhutto, Fatima Bhutto said that the economy and the politics of Pakistan has been dominated by a few families and now the time has come to remove this thing from the country.

In an interview with an Arab television, Fatima Bhutto said that now it has been proved that political evolution in Pakistan is impossible through the politics of religion, families and big names.

She said that many families here have made the politics hostage after entering into the political field.

Fatima Bhutto said that it is said that after the partition, 22 economic families achieved monopoly in all businesses and the same is the situation of the politics as about 20 families have maintained their monopoly in the country’s politics.

She said that our country is the country of 165 million people and therefore there should be more options besides a few families.

Fatima Bhutto said that we would have learnt a lot from the recent history . Our society is of the youth and the youth would certainly be successful in eliminating this thing.
