THE Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for T20 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka this year. The inclusion of Kamran Akmal, Imran Nazir, Muhammad Sami and Abdul Razzak is mind-boggling, to say the least.

The PCB has again played it absolutely safe. The inclusion of these four gentlemen has raised quite a few questions about the selection process.

The inclusion of Kamran Akmal will bolster the Pakistani batting line-up and his inclusion will give lead to a very frail top order.

However, the PCB has not committed about Kamran Akmal. On what grounds has he been allowed to play for Pakistan? If he was innocent, why was he not in the squad for the last two years? Have they got clearance from the ICC? If all of this is not done, then we could be in for some more embarrassment in the near future.

The inclusion of Imran Nazir is beyond comprehension. It seems that he has been selected because the public demands him in the side.

Despite being immensely talented, he has not proved his mettle in the international arena. His faulty technique and unpredictable batting style can become a disadvantage.

Abdul Razzak is a world-class cricketer. He has done wonders and has been a great asset to Pakistan. The only reservation would be about his physical fitness and his form.

Mohammad Sami’s inclusion also raises questions. He has failed to perform every time he has been given a chance. By inducting him, the selectors have deprived many youngsters of displaying their talent in the T20 World Cup.

The Pakistani team can still prove its worth.
