in the absence of concrete proofs, i-e written documents, tablets, absence of many written materials it is assumed that generally the literacy was very limited in the indus valley civilization but discoveries of clay models of writing tablets made for children indicates that literacy was indeed widespread as children were using writing boards to learn their letters.
