Featured Egypt reportedly signed contract for 500 T-90MS main battle tanks

A tad suprised Egypt chooses to purchase these tanks given their performance in recent war esp Ukraine.

Hopefully they dont get the "egg carton in the ERA packs" option !!!
T-90M Did not get destroyed in ukraine theres photos circulating that they partcipate but none have been destroyed yet, and these "egg cartoon"are armour spacing in era bags tgat were emptied before evacuation of the tank by the crew

The M1 is a better tank even in the export version but it is expensive to operate and complicated to maintain. The T90 is an upgraded T72 and as such has a lot of commonality with most repair shops in any country (diesel vs turbine engines.) It also has a lot of commonality in the maintenance shops where it will be going i.e. T55/62 units that are being eliminated.
No the egyptian m1a1 is not better than the T-90MS at all

india develop things alone
Lol... Must have hit right on your nerve. Too embarass to admit India is useless.

Bulk of IA tanks are T-72 and T-90 and everybody knows Arjun is a failure with very limited numbers enter services. If Egypt is failure, Indian shall jump off the cliff and killed themselves first before Egypt.

compare to size of population i can say it failure

compare to size of population i can say it failure
but to say she dont develop nothing alone it not true

These are deposits in the central bank of Egypt not donations..there is a big difference..help and support came in the form of investments and JVs..

IF the deal goes as per the program don't you think Sanctions would be coming Egypt's way from US and West ?
The deal preliminaries were signed before CAATSA..and finalized in 2020..

The T-90 has nothing to do with the T-72..google it well..

T-90 was originally designated T-72BU but this was terminated, thus you could argue it is an evolution. On the other hand so many components have been upgraded that they have little in common. Latest T-90M has a different gun, transmission, FCS, turret, ERA tiles... etc..

Its not begging. They are holding a gun to every president's head with their lobbies in conggress and their control of the media. They played it very smart

The US does not have export versions..Egypt is making its own version M1A2E..just like the Saudi M1A2S..

Egypt doesn’t have the M1A2. You are confusing Egypt with Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia gets its M1A2 from the plant in Ohio. There is a large stock of old Abrams worldwide that can be upgraded to some version of the M1A2. Saudi Arabia has the M1A2S tank—which, by the way, has performed very poorly in Yemen. It looks like Saudi Arabia exchanged its old M1A1s for factory rebuilds of M1A2s, and at great expense.

Yeah no their tanks are good their tactics are poor. M60s preformed well in egypts hands in sinai i didnt see a single tank destroyed there

There is also the fact that tiny Usrael has more than 4000 MBTs .. and close to 15 000 armoured fighting vehicles.. and can mobilise almost 3 million soldiers males and females in case of war..Not mentionning the other branches like the air force and others..
We all know most of the 7million residents of israel will flee the country as soon as a foreign enemy crosses their borders

Basically, saudis aren’t using the tactics required to keep tanks safe. They aren’t guarding them with infantry, they are putting them in vulnerable positions, and are not leveraging terrain to reduce visibility.

Egypt need a tank between the M1 Abrams and the M60 in it’s guerrilla warfares, like ISIS in the SinaiSince the Egyptian army doesn't want to waste it’s Abrams tanks on fighting insurgents. It had no choice other than using the old M60 which had suffered a lot from ATGMs that the Insurgents in Sinai have. so a cheap T90light and more capable tank with active protection system will be much better for Egypt in it's asymmetric war.

It depends upon how it is being used. Russia would rather risk other types in heavy clashes.

Ukranian forces have knocked out virtually any Russian MBT type including T-80BVM which are heavily armored and modernized as per Russian needs with ATGMs.

M1A1 chassis and hull design favors crew survivability and offers excellent room for modernization. Depends upon Americans of-course.

Saudi army cannot fight and they have no tactics for using Main Battle Tanks. I have seen photos of M1A2S that were abandoned in perfectly operational condition in Yemen. Absolute loss of such fine equipment.

Most are born there now a days..Some will flee for sure but let's assume some will fight with all the gear they have.. Egypt should be ready for that in any case..

Thats why i said egyptian abrams gifted by uncle sam. M1a1 are a better survivor due to the fact that the ammo is seprated from the crew and has blowout pannels while soviet tanks are literally sitting ontop of the autoloader and tgey are ecposed to any pentration of the tank can cause that turret to make a colony in mars before elon musk lol. but what about genuine combat effectivness compared to the T-90M like an APS system and a more effective gun and APFSDS? compared to the m1a1 although this will change or already changed as the m1a1 is being upgraded away from america apparently using south korean expertise and a russian APS or a local one as they say. T-80BVM is the 2nd worst tank in the russian modern armoured arsenal and they did not apply everything on it to prevent pen this thing was made for relativeley chaep yet effective mass production. The true russian upgrade to meet its needs is the t-90M with relikt era arena 3 aps and some have the new afghanit made for the T-14. If the russians want a survivable tank the T-14 is the right way to go as autoloaders stocked with ammo at the bottom of the tank is very bad for survivability. Type-10 tank autoloader is a very great one. The old t-72s circulating in ukraine were probably gifted to septratist movements and every cassulty is labbelled as of the russian armed forces although quite a handful of these were from the septratists. Russians arent that armed either theyre relativeley better they still meet the same fate due to strategic failures.

As far as the insurgency in isis its already over. Actually the m60s did not suffer that much they bareley suffered ive seen videos of m60s tanking rpgs and i didntnsee a photo from isis showing a captured or destroyed across the 8 years this war has raged upon. The only thing you could say they had problems with was IEDS they love iEDs they threw emirati made MRAPs 5 meters in the sky but as for the m60 it did not suffer much
