Dutch journalist claims evidence MH17 shot down by Russian BUK missile

BUK radar do identify its own combat fighters and Ukraine do use Su, MiG and Antonov fighter planes.

Not the early Buk radars. Those only show a beep. That's it. Plus, rebels didn't have the big radar. They only have the small one on the launcher that doesn't show much.

Of course they did but like 9/11 truthers, deny all evidence and claim its a psyop

Dutch investigation concludes MH17 downed by Buk missile from Russian battery

(photo) The Buk missile system is a family of self-propelled, medium-range surface-to-air missile systems developed by the Soviet Union and its successor state the Russian Federation, and designed to fight cruise missiles, smart bombs, fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

AMSTERDAM, -- Investigators from the Office of the National Prosecutor (OM) of the Netherlands have completed the first phase of their work in definitely determining the cause of the mid-aid explosion and crash of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17 (MH17). Preliminary information leaked to the Dutch media has concluded that a Russian unit is responsible for the shotdown.

Most of the collected debris from the aircraft, a Boeing 777 that crashed on 17 July 2014 while en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with the loss of all 298 on board, is now spread out in hangers at the Royal Netherlands Air Force's Gilze-Rijen airbase where investigators have been probing the wreckage for evidence.

The OM is part of a Joint International Team (JIT) conducting a criminal investigation charged with initially identifying what brought the aircraft down and from where. A second phase of the investigation is to then identify those responsible and bring them before a court with the proper jurisdiction.

According to all of the evidence the JIT has reviewed, which has included more than one million documents, photos and videos, the conclusions to date are that the MH17 was downed by a Buk-M1-2 surface-to-air missile (SAM) launched from a Russian-owned battery that was most likely manned by a Russian crew. Photos and video evidence, as well as interviews with witnesses, prove that the battery was brought across the border from Russia into Ukraine shortly before the shootdown.

In order to fulfill the second half of its mission the investigation team will now have to collect facts that would provide the basis for a conviction in court. Chief prosecutor Fred Westerbeke told local news outlets: "The investigation is fully ongoing, with more than a hundred internationals involved. We are looking at forensic evidence, phone tap analyses from the time around the crash, witness accounts, and many different scenarios."

The head of the prosecuting team then explained that central questions that the investigation is trying to answer are: first, who controlled the radar that provided the Buk battery with targeting information; second, who commanded the crew; and, lastly, who gave the order to fire? Radio and mobile telephone intercepts that have been provided by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) are being used in this effort.

Investigation into the chemical composition showed that they are remains from a BUK missile, among which fragments from the warhead – the pay load. The fragment of the warhead consists of a low-quality alloy of steel common to this form of ammunition. It appears from electroscopic enlargements that a fragment shows a cast-on Cyrillic serial number from the Russian language next to a partly broken number 2.

Wow this journalist is sherlock. Who would have thought that a Russian made Buk would have Russian cyrillics :o:

Was the journalist expecting a Buk to have, for instance, Japanese text?

The investigaion evidence was given by JIT.

The Joint Investigation Team was initially comprised of the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium and Ukraine. Malaysia has called on the team to include its investigators in the probe instead of being just participants from time to time.

It was stupid to have commercial airliners fly over a war zone where long range surface to air missiles are shooting down planes on a daily basis. Was it the rebels fault if they shot down MH17? I think not. It would have been the fault of the Ukrainian government and the Malaysian airlines for their negligence.

Air traffic controllers seems to have informed but rebels seems to have over look it. Over all Ex President who fled to Russian Federation got relieved and the whole media attention gone over the MH17.

So who is giving to give compensation for the MH17 ? Will there be any criminal proceedings ? Will it be considered war crime ?

Nope. According to Americans, collateral damage is unavoidable.

Seems Dutch will file war crime case along with Malaysia but it seems to me that Russian Federation will offer the Malaysians some good weapons deal to not file war crime case.

Majority of civilians who were death were dutch.

298 dead include 192 Dutch, 44 Malaysians, 27 Australians, 12 Indonesians, 10 from the U.K., four from Germany, four from Belgium, three from the Philippines, and one Canadian, and one from New Zealand.

10 Britons and 192 Dutch have been confirmed dead, along with 28 Australians, 44 Malaysians and one U.S. citizen

Yes but they are not from rich families of politicians, so they were expendable. The world has 7 BILLION people.

It shows plenty, but it doesn't have IFF. IFF is on the command vehicle.

Reaction to Dutch broadcast RTL News about MH17 investigation

In the investigation to the accident to flight MH17, the Dutch Safety Board wants to be able to confirm the final conclusion against multiple sources. This is a complex and time-consuming process. As a part of this, the link to the Malaysian Airlines aeroplane has to be demonstrated for each source, in part because the aeroplane crashed in an area of civil conflict.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing and is focusing on many more sources than just the pieces of shrapnel. Additional material for investigation is welcome for this, but it is important that it be irrefutably demonstrated that there is a relationship between any material and the aeroplane that crashed. The Dutch Safety Board will accept any such material and include it in the investigation.

Boeing 777 has no IFF. It's not supposed to fly over a war zone in the first place.
Identification, friend or foe (IFF) is an identification system designed for command and control. It enables military and national (civilian air traffic control) interrogation systems to identify aircraft, vehicles or forces as friendly and to determine their bearing and range from the interrogator. IFF may be used by both military and civilian aircraft.

ALL commercial airliners have a transponder

A transponder (short-for transmitter-responder and sometimes abbreviated to XPDR, XPNDR, TPDR or TP) is an electronic device that produces a response when it receives a radio-frequency interrogation. Aircraft have transponders to assist in identifying them on air traffic control radar; and collision avoidance systems have been developed to use transponder transmissions as a means of detecting aircraft at risk of colliding with each other.

Technically, the transponder can be switched offf - which is what russian military aircraft sometimes do when they are being a nuisance over the North Sea or Atlantic - but the aircraft remains visible on radar. Reasons you don't want to switch off your transponder is because it a) endangers other air traffic and b) it endangers your own aircraft.

The Boeing 777 is equipped with five radios and two transponders, making it next to impossible for failures to be due to electrical or other mechanical failures, a Boeing 777 captain and training instructor tells us.
The ACARS system, which communicates with the ground, is run off one of three VHF radios; the radio would have to be turned off (or failed). There are two HF (High Frequency) radios as well.
The two transponders, which identify the airplane to Air Traffic Control, are not operational simultaneously. If one failed, the pilot has to turn the other on as back-up, says George Nolly, a former airline pilot and Boeing 777/787 instructor.
