At least 20 people were injured as blasts rocked India's capital New Delhi on Saturday, police said.

Three separate blasts hit the teeming city, within minutes of each other, injuring weekend shoppers, a Delhi Police spokesman said.

Indian television said the blasts occurred at a busy market place and at a parking lot. Broadcasts showed a scene of chaos, with wounded people being carried away by rescuers.

Hundreds of people milled around the site of the explosions as police tried to cordon off the area.

7 dead

NEW DELHI: Four explosions rocked various places in Delhi on Saturday evening, leaving at least seven people dead, according to police.

The blasts at Ghaffar market in Karol Bagh, Connaught Place and Greater Kailash took place in a quick succession, police said.

The first blast took place at Ghaffar market in which at least 20 people were injured. They were rushed to nearby RML hospital.

Immediately after that, two explosions took place in Connaught Place in which at least 10 people were injured.

Another explosion rocked M-Block market in Greater Kailash-I.

The impact of the blasts in Karol Bagh could be gauged by the fact that an auto was thrown up and got caught in the electrical wires.

Senior Police officials including Joint Commissioner of Police Karnail Singh rushed to the spot in the central district and were assessing the situation

There is no point trying to catch the tail end of these terrorist operations...it is time to hit the source of all this *****...

Enough of the ISI jokes - terrorism is out of control, and the last series of blasts was traced to homegrown elements. Given the internal issues in Pakistan, it isn't likely going to be picking fights elsewhere.

If there was a 'source' the Americans would have taken it out already.

What do you think this 'source' is?

Serial blasts rock Delhi; 18 dead
13 Sep 2008, 1849 hrs IST,AGENCIES

NEW DELHI: At least five blasts ripped through different parts of the National Capital here on Saturday evening between 6:15 PM and 7 PM. At least 18 have been killed and over 19 have been injured. Unconfirmed reports say the casualty figure may be higher. ( Watch )

The blasts took place in the Gaffar Market area of Karol Bagh, two blasts in Connaught Place, and another in Greater Kailash (M-block).

The impact of the blasts in Karol Bagh could be gauged by the fact that an auto was thrown up and got caught in the electrical wires.

SIMI takes responsibility for the blasts

SIMI has taken responsibility for the blasts and said it is a culmination of their ‘Operation BAD’, meaning Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Delhi. Interestingly, the Indian Mujahideen, which had claimed responsibility for the Bangalore blasts, has also claimed responsibility in an email sent out to media houses.

A number of markets in Delhi have been shut due to precautionary measures and the Delhi Metro too has suspended its services.

While SIMI may have taken responsibility, it will be important to see how this coincides with increasing US belligerence in FATA, and the conveniently leaked information (blatant propaganda) claiming that Gen. Kiyani was aware of the Embassy bombing.

This is an attack in the capital of India after all, and given the GoI's use of the parliament bombings as a pretext for Op. Parakaram, I would have to be quite vary of what the intentions of the US and India are currently.

According to ToI Terrorist Narendra Modi says he had given the Center specific information that Delhi will be bombed.

Well Agno the Indian plot is exposed.

The poor souls even failed to decide whether to blam it on SIMI or Indian Mujahideen in the fake emails.

Look at their drama here

Indian Mujahideen claims responsibility

In an email to media organisations, Indian Mujahideen, the terror outfit that had claimed responsibility for the July 26 Ahmedabad blasts, said it had carried out the serial blasts in Delhi. It threatened that there would be nine blasts in all.
Sarojini Nagar market, scene of the pre-Diwali eve blasts in 2005, in which more than 60 people were killed, has been evacuated.

Jana ji,

No need to cal this a drama yet.

We have to wait for the official Indian reaction.

I am merely voicing my concerns about the potential situation that could develop given the recent actions and statements by the US, and the Indian actions after the parliament attack.

The GoI may indeed act responsibly and lay blame where it should, domestically.
