Court acquits 115 suspects in Joseph Colony carnage case

LAHORE – An anti-terrorism court on Saturday released 115 suspects of Joseph Colony carnage and torching dozens of houses in a Christian-dominated neighbourhood of Lahore.

The court acquitted the accused persons due to lack of evidence and witnesses.

Back in 2013, an enraged mob set dozens of houses on fire located in a Christian-dominated area. The mob attacked the houses in Joseph Colony in Badami Bagh police precincts in the provincial capital following allegations of blasphemy against a Christian man. The man had been booked under Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
