After replying to a member regarding how much are private companies involved in defence systems' manufacturing in Pakistan, it struck me that a thread should be opened to benefit from all members' information about such companies as most of them are quite unknown to general public.

(1) Daudsons

Daudsons Armoury (DSA) was the first private sector defense industry in Pakistan to get both ISO 9001:2000 & ISO 14001 certifications. DSA has always strived to indigenize the Defense Weapons required by the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan.

DSA has expanded its line of production from Sporting Arms, Rifles and Pistols to the International Standard Pump Action shotguns (DSA Shooter) and sophisticated Airborne Armaments and Precision components for the Defense Ministry of Pakistan.

(3) SHIBLI Electronics

Established in 2012, SHIBLI is an international organization and O.E.M specializing in the designing and manufacturing of Optronics Systems to enhance battlefield situational awareness. With our innovative and cutting-edge products, we aim to help users effectively detect, recognize, identify, and, if need be, neutralize any threats to their security.

Our thermal imaging equipment is state-of-the-art and built to the highest military standards to unlock the future of land defense for our clients. Over time, SHIBLI aims to become a global and regional driver of innovation in the defense industry through both military and civilian applications of our products.

(4) East-West Infinity:

One of the companies at the forefront of UAV development is East West Infinity (EWI). EWI's latest products are the Heliquad micro tactical UAV and the Whisper Watch signals intelligence (SIGINT) package.

The Heliquad was first displayed in prototype form at the IDEAS 2006 defense exhibition. Equipped with a tiny camera, it can relay pictures back to troops or special forces in an urban environment or in the field, giving them a tactical reconnaissance capability. Being exceptionally small and powered by four electric motors, Heliquad is highly stealthy and represents the cutting edge of EWI's electronics miniaturization. SIGINT has become more important with ongoing anti-terrorism operations on the western front and in the tribal areas. Designed for militaries unable to afford high-end, dedicated SIGINT platforms, the company says its Whisper Watch platform is most effective when aerostat-mounted, as the platform is stationary and airborne for longer.

(5) Satuma:

Satuma (Surveillance and Target Unmanned Aircraft), founded in 1989, is small UAV specialist company based near Islamabad, Pakistan. Satuma products include Flamingo, Jasoos and Mukhbar UAVs. Its biggest customer is Pakistan's military.

Note: As per official website of DEPO Today, there are over 20 major Public Sector Organizations and over 100 Private Sector firms engaged in the manufacturing of defence related products, which are internationally recognized for quality, reliability and competitive prices. The Private firms have achieved an accelerated development in the manufacturing capabilities, facilities and capacities to augment Public Sector for indigenous production, using the latest technological tools. Both, the Public and Private firms, are abreast of the need and meeting the landmarks with full zeal and enthusiasm.

It would be good to have input from all other members so that we should all know about local defence industry too. I would be more than interested to know about those 100 private sector firms as stated by DEPO.

Would you be knowing what is that Adamji Group breakaway company that is in defense production? Probably dealing with hi tech electronics.

There are quite a few and people don't know much about them. They think there is only the PAC, HIT and POF or maximum include NDC and KRL.

There are so many private sector groups making and supplying Pakistani military with war gear as well as exporting it. From air dropped general purpose bombs to precision attack munitions to communication and command and control system plus the UAVs. So much is happening and so much can be improved upon with a little bit of commitment and devotion.

Please hi light products in detail being produced by private organisations in Pakistan. Thanks to this forum we are able to know many of above mentioned organizations but most of their products are unknown.

For some hardware acquisitions, there ought to be an effort to secure offsets to help the private sector. For example, if we continue acquiring Western avionics for the JF-17, maybe have those Western companies invest in creating Pakistani firms to undertake some of the production work? Or if our Army requires light armoured vehicles, procure a type but with commercial offsets including ToT, which would then be applied to the private sector?

the industrial base needs to be expanded ....specially in areas of radars manufacturing and satellite tech.

The biggest drawback and ENEMY barring local companies to get into defense production is the NO COST, NO OBLIGATION BASIS policy of the armed forces. This means that they want all the development cost to be borne by the manufacturer while providing ZERO GUARANTEES and ZERO FUNDS into the entire process. Until that happens, motivation for new companies to come into defense manufacturing will remain deflated.

GIDS doesn't make anything and Shibli Electronics is just another name for Thales.

As per detailed reports GIDS, the largest of the private defense sector companies, has a UAV division, which produces a whole range of operational and training UAVs.Its biggest customer in Pakistan's military. The UAVs developed by GIDS have been extensively flight tested by military. GIDS ground control stations have an interactive and user friendly interface, where flight parameters and auto-pilot mission planning, and execution is done in addition to reception of high-enbd crisp quality video transmitted over an encrypted digital link.
Headed by a retired PAF Air Vice Marshall, GIDS has emerged from a combination of 7 Pakistani private defense companies that include AERO (Advanced Engineering Research Organization), IDS (Integrated Defense Systems), MSL (Maritime Systems Pvt Limited), ACES (Advanced Computing and Engineering Solutions), IICS (Institute of Industrial Control Systems), ATCOP (AI-Technique Corporation) and SETS (Scientific Engineering and Technology Solutions). Other than UAVs, its major products include anti-personnnel, anti-armor, incendiary, anti-runway, electronic impact and time-based fuses, electronic warfare equipment, navigation systems, optical fiber and optical fiber cables. Anti-tank Wire Guided Missile System known as "Baktar Shiken" made by IICS, a component of GIDS.

With regards to Shibli, its CEO claims that:

Translating over three decades of experience in the Pakistan Defence Sector into the realization of the SHIBLI Factory in 2012, I have been able to pioneer and guide Optronics in Pakistan to the point where SHIBLI is now the only Optronics OEM active in the region. SHIBLI maintains full capability to design, produce and manufacture uncooled thermal imagers for land defense applications.

Yes Shibli had partnered with Thales for some projects esp for HIT but the word OEM carries quite a big significance.

LMAO.Complete BS that Shibli is the only Optronics OEM in region.
BEL Optronics Devices Ltd.(a subsidiary of BEL) Is far larger than Shibli And had revenues of $30 million in 2015-16 alone.
After all Shibli is just a 4 year old Company with less than 250 employees.

GIDS is not a company. It is just a front or a "marketing layer" (as another member had put it). Also AERO isn't a company either. If you see AERO anywhere it means AWC. These are just fronts and marketing layers. I don't know about others but GIDS and AERO I am sure of.

Apart from SE .. We have military run Institute of optronics ..
Both of them build NVGs,LR thermal sights,IR sights telescopes,IR & Thermal binoculars ,Helicopter Imaging systems,EOD payloads, telescopes etc etc.

Shibli also won a tender to upgrade sites on the AK,T-80UD and older Type series tank fleet.

Thats what i have said:
No. AERO is NOT a private organization. AERO = Air Weapons Complex. GIDS SELLS products made under NESCOM. Just look at their products.
