Commanding Officer, Family Among 7 Killed in Militant Attack in Manipur

Also don’t forget how Indians actively supported MBs
just this part, as it may bring a legitimacy of wife and son killing. We shouldn't forget that we lost our army personals and their families but we shd forget our losses when their families are under attack.

Nothing makes killing non combatants right. I was merely pointing out that the enemy we are talking about has historically killed willfully non combatants. They have not event given quarter to the families of a professional army like Pakistan that they waged war on. We should always set a higher standards and ethics, but know we are dealing with an enemy that will kill our kin and schoolchildren in a sec without any remorse.

that's what Indian pajeets army do daily to Kashmere civilians, kill and rape

What is People’s Liberation Army, the Terror Outfit Likely Behind Manipur Ambush That Killed 7 (news18.com)

The killing of an Indian Army Commanding Officer (CO) of the Assam Rifles and his family, along with three other soldiers of the Quick Response Team (QRT), in a militant attack in Manipur has brought back focus on the People’s Liberation Army, one of the largest and most dangerous terror outfits suspected to be behind the ambush.

The PLA was established by N Bisheshwar Singh on September 25, 1978, to “liberate” Manipur and demand “separation” from India. He had split from United National Liberation Front (UNLF) to form this group.

The group, which seeks “cessation from India”, is led by principles of Marxism- Leninism and Mao’s thoughts. It also enjoins Naga revolutionaries to join in its fight for Independence.

The outfit further looks for “War of Independence" with Chinese support, provoking the Naga and Mizo ‘revolutionaries’ to jointly fight against the common enemy.

According to information provided by the Indian Army, he “formulated a two-fold objection, to liberate the Eastern Region of India comprising the States of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura and the Union Territories of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh through a carefully planned revolutionary uprising and to use this as a base for `liberating’ the rest of India”.

The PLA in 1989 formed a political body called the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) to prop up an alternative to mainstream parties. The RPF runs a government-in-exile in Bangladesh, as per the South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP), which maintains a comprehensive list of insurgent outfits operating in India.

It now has four divisions, namely Sadar Hill West areas of the Valley of Manipur, Sadar Hill areas in the eastern Valley, the entire hill areas in Manipur and the entire Imphal area. Each division has a commander, lieutenants, sergeant and lance corporals in its ranks, equipped with arms.

PLA is also a member of the Manipur People’s Liberation Front, an umbrella organisation of three separatist organisation of Manipur.

There has been a strategic mistake on Indian Army's part to take these Naga insurgent threats seriously. In Bangladesh, we made sure Chakma insurgents got their come-uppance and dealt with a low intensity conflict with them for a decade. Problem mostly gone but Chakma insurgents cross over to India to get arms and supplies as the area is barely populated and passable. Along with building of roads, air and drone patrols and counter-insurgency COIN platforms, issues like these can be overcome.

More on topic and the subject of the thread, what was his family doing in a higher threat environment like this where they became the victims of an ambush?

In the Hill tracts area in Bangladesh, certain areas are still no go for local civilians and for foreigners, definitely not.

I will watch closely what Indian Army does as a remedy situation.

Even thought the Officer may have been guilty of some atrocity against the people of Manipur, his kid and wife are absolutely innocent and should’ve been left out of this.

CHURACHANDPUR (MANIPUR): Commanding officer Colonel Viplab Tripathi of 46 Assam Rifles, his wife and son and four paramilitary force personnel were on Saturday killed after terrorists ambushed their convoy in Manipur's Churachandpur district.
Manipur terrorist group - People’s Liberation Army is suspected to be behind the attack on the 46 Assam Rifles convoy.

Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) burst, shattering tenuous peace in Manipur hills, before the Assam Rifles personnel engaged the terrorists in a firefight.
such a happy family - should have just killed the officer and be done with it
