Chinese navy joins "Aman-2011" multi-national naval exercises - People's Daily Online March 09, 2011

The "Aman-2011" multi-national naval exercises were formally inaugurated in the waters near Karachi, Pakistan on the morning of March 8.

Organized by the Pakistan Navy, "Aman 2011" will include participation by ships, airplanes or Special Forces from 12 countries including China, the United States, Britain, France and Pakistan.

Han Xiaohu, commander of the PLA Navy's Eighth Chinese naval escort taskforce, said that the Chinese Navy has dispatched two missile frigates, two shipborne helicopters and 70 special force members to participate in the exercise.

Han noted that this exercise includes port-shore special force anti-terror drills, shooting practice, maritime rescue mine clearance. He also said that the Chinese Navy will join the exercise and coordinate with participating warships as well as participate in organizing and controlling them.
