China's Korean War movie smashes box office record, China became the world biggest movie market

The US also dropped bombs on the Chinese borders that killed some villagers before the Chinese intervention, and claimed they can win the war against China easily and back home before Christmas, like how they claimed they can win the trade war easily.
And they seemed very optimistic when they saw the covid outbreak in China.

Movie goers passing in front of a poster for "The Battle At Lake Changjin" in a cinema in Wuhan, China.

"The Battle at Lake Changjin" was released at the start of the week-long holiday in China and was also timed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Communist Party.

It tells the story of the brutal 1950 Battle of Chosin Reservoir in the Korean War. The Chinese side claims it as the most critical victory of the conflict, known in China as the "War to Resist American Aggression and Aid Korea."

It is the "most expensive film" made in China, Bona Film's chairman Yu Dong told media at its premiere last month. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported the movie had a budget of 1.3 billion yuan ($200 million).

Yu said that he was inspired by patriotic Korean war films when he grew up, and wanted to make a new one"for the young people today," according to the state-owned National Business Daily.

Dengta, a box office data app owned by Alibaba(BABA), forecast the film will pull in as much as 4.5 billion yuan ($700 million). That could make it the second biggest movie globally this year, behind the $822 million earned by Chinese comedy "Hi, Mom," according to data compiled by Box Office Mojo.

In 2020, China overtook the United States to become the top movie market in the world — a milestone achieved in large part because the United States struggled to contain the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, many of the biggest box office draws in the last few months were produced by Chinese studios and production companies, including last year's top film, the Chinese war epic "The Eight Hundred."

The battle of Changjin Lake is something Chinese people have been reluctant to look back at, because it is tragically heroic.

The Korean War gave the Chinese people an insight into the powerful firepower and industrialization. China has achieved this today, and only then has the courage to look back at that tragically heroic battle. Those soldiers who have frozen into ice sculptures will always inspire the Chinese people.

It is very shocking to compare China during the Korean War and during the epidemic.

In 1950 US GDP accounted for 52% of the world total with best military equipment and battle harden troops, China can not even produce screws and bolts, this is incredible courage and bravery for the Chinese leaders and troops .
Best soldiers credited to Soviet troops. But Stalin is scared of US despite having best troops.

The advantage US had , is it's airforce and navy.

Chinese have a proud history to look at, spanning thousand of years. If their ancestor didn't collapse and thrive. How can the future generation failed now?

It is always this mentality that kept Chinese keep going , no matter how much hardship they suffer.

China told US government China would not intervene if South Korea troops cross 38 line. China would only intervene if foreign troops cross the line.

Eliminating South Korea was not China's purpose.

You didn't intervene when they crossed the 38th. You only intervene when the U.S. was close to China's borders and North Korea was losing which China was supporting North Korea's invasion.
1. The purpose of China's participation in the war is to save North Korea, not to destroy South Korea. Eliminating South Korea is not in China's interest (refer to helping North Vietnam eliminate South Vietnam). China has achieved its goal of participating in the war.

2. When China entered the war, the front line was on the Yalu River. At the time of China's armistice, the front was on 38 line.

3. The war has brought great political capital to China, and the USA has lost a lot of political capital. Even now, the favorable impact of the war on China is still there.

4. A total of 1099150 United Nations troops were killed and missing. A total of 171687 people were killed and missing in China, and North Korea 456857 people. The China N-Korean coalition lost less.

Why do you say China lost?

Actually saving South Korea was victory since you couldn't pushed the U.S. out of South Korea when you tried. You took Seoul but lost it from the counter attack.

China's position is leaving Koreans domestic issue to Koreans themselve, if they fight , it's their own civil war, US is the foreign invader, Koreans can't invade Korea, it's logically very absurd.

Really? China's position was to support North Korea's invasion by providing 3 divisions of Korean descent.

Cause China didn't want to be there in the first place if not for US troops collasping so fast, an unified Korea is also not China wants to see.

That was their civil war, all foreigners should stay out of it.

South Korean exile government used to be in Chinese Chongqing city, cause back then Korea was occupied by Japan, after WW11 they went back to Korea, you can't claim that because they were in China and Joined KMT so today's south Korean government is of Chinese origin.

Thats like saying U.S. provided 3 divisions of Korean-Americans and still claim they are not involved.

Funny thing was that the the U.S. planned to withdraw the troops from South Korea in belief South Korea could protect themselves, but North Korea rushed in before they pulled out.

China needed time to talk with Stalin and deploy troops. US troops moved too fast. China didn't expected that.

Kim Il Sung of North Korea was originally a subordinate of Yang Jingyu of the Northeast Anti Japanese democratic coalition army. The three Korean divisions were adapted by The Korea Volunteers of the Northeast Anti Japanese democratic coalition army. They were Kim Il Sung's men. Later, they were incorporated into the fourth field army of CCP and took part in the war of liberation. After the victory, the CCP returned the three divisions to Kim Il Sung.

Kim Il Sung dispersed the soldiers of the three divisions as officers to other armies. When the Korean War broke out, the three divisions were already mostly composed of recruits, and changed to the North Korean army designationn. After Incheon's landing, the three divisions were completely destroyed. According to the practice of the East Asian war, North Korea cancelled the designation of the three divisions. In November 1950, China transferred 27th army officers and convened Korean volunteers in Yanbian to reorganize the three divisions and return to the Korean battlefield as the second batch of reinforcements.

Kim Il, accompanied by the Chinese trade representative in Korea, left Pyongyang on 28 April and on 30 April reached Mukden, where he met with Gao Gang. The latter put Kim Il in touch with the CC of the Chinese Communist party.

In Beijing Kim Il had four meetings with Zhu De and Zhou Enlai and one meeting with Mao Zedong. Kim Il passed on to Mao Zedong a letter from the CC of the Korean Workers’ Party with the request, in case it becomes necessary, to transfer Korean divisions that a part of the PLA to the Korean government.

Mao Zedong replied that from the three Korean divisions that are a part of the PLA, two divisions are located in Mukden and Changchun, and one division is involved in the offensive operations. Mao Zedong stated that they are prepared at any time to transfer two divisions, located in Manchuria, to the Korean government, completely armed. The third division can be returned from the South only after the end of the fighting but no earlier than in a month’s time. At the same time Mao Zedong warned Kim Il that the aforesaid divisions, as well as their entire army, are not regulars, and are poorly prepared in military terms. He recommended the Koreans to begin military training of the officer corps of these divisions.

As the Korean divisions that were being referred to, are armed with Japanese weapons, Kim Il asked Mao Zedong whether the Chinese can later provide help with the ammunition, necessary for the aforementioned divisions. Mao Zedong replied that they manufacture ammunition and can give to the Korean as much as they need.

Mao Zedong and Zhu De asked in detail about the situation in Korea. Mao Zedong said that Korea could see military action at any moment; Kim Il Sung must take this into account and thoroughly prepare.

In Korea, the war can be of the lightning or the protracted type. A protracted war, Mao Zedong said, it not in your interest, because in this case the Japanese may get involved and provide aid to the South Korean “government.” You don’t need to worry: next to you are the Soviet Union and we in Manchuria. In case it becomes necessary, we can through a few Chinese soldiers over to you; they are all black-[haired], no one will make them out, added Mao Zedong.

Mao Zedong asked in detail about the trip of the Korean government delegation to Moscow. He informed Kim Il that the CC CCP received a letter from four Communist parties, including the com[munist] parties of Burma, Malaya, Indochina, with the proposal to create an Inform[ation] Bureau of com[munist] parties of the countries of the East. Mao Zedong was interested whether there was a discussion on this question in Moscow during the trip of the Korean government delegation. Mao Zedong asked about the opinion of the CC of the Korean Workers’ Party on this question. Kim Il replied that he knows nothing about this question but that he will report on this conversation to Kim Il Sung.

For his part, Mao Zedong expressed the opinion that the creation of the Informburo is, for now, probably premature, as there is a war going on in China [and] Indochina, the situation is tense in Korea, and the creation of the Informburo can be viewed as the creation of a military alliance.

However, Mao Zedong said, this question should be thought through.

Korean War was at first a military disaster initiated by Stalin and Kim. Then Mao was enlisted to bail out the situation in exchange of

1. Dalian Lushun, part of Western Xinjiang, Manchurian railway
2. USSR transfer of technologies
3. Nuclear bomb

In addition, no Chinese empire can last long after losing Korea (sort of superstition) and Mao knew it.

the Northeast Anti Japanese democratic coalition army.

Do you know what "coalition army" means?

In the "coalition army", there are not only Chinese, but also Koreans, Soviets, Mongols and even the Communist Party of Japan.

Kim Il Sung is a general of the Northeast Anti Japanese coalition army. The three divisions were adapted by his Korean subordinates. When Kim Il Sung returned home, CCP returned the three divisions to him.

These North Korean troops helped CCP participate in three years of Chinese civil war. Kim Jong Il asked CCP to support some weapons, and the CCP would certainly not refuse.

Kim Il Sung despite all his shorting coming had far more legitimacy compared to US stooge Syngman Rhee. From 1921 to 1945, Rhee was enjoying life in US while US propaganda machine go overdrive to describe Rhee worked hard as activists.

Suddenly Japan surrendered and Rhee was flown in to be president.

Rhee has totally no legitimacy on anything not unlike any bitch Aung San Suu Kyi, who was fking her whole life with a UK aristocrat, and then flew in to Myanmar, anointed as the big boss.

At the very least, Kim did fought.
