China's Korean War movie smashes box office record, China became the world biggest movie market

Agree. People forget that the soviet Union was also heavily involved in the war, albeit not directly. Stalin sent lots of soviet pilots, arms, equipment and logistics officers in Korea to aid the DPRK and Chinese throughout the duration of the war. To act as if it was only China who was fighting fighting US single handedly is false .
Moreover, China was fighting the US closed to its borders(might as well been like fighting at home)and they intervened when they US had already been engaging the North Koreans for some time. It's like say Russia fighting the US in say Mexico or Canada. If Russia can even last 1month I will give them my respect. Lol Much less hold their own and maintain their control over the country.
The US is situated the other side of the world. To have been fighting a war thousands of miles away from home soil the other side of their continent against 2 big powers (China and even more so the mighty Soviet Union) close to their own borders and still managed to hold their ground was nothing but impressive actually if we look at it that way as well.
It's also for similar reason China was never able to take small Taiwan. Fighting a war close to your country's land border for a big power is easier than fighting a war across the ocean/sea, with everything that entails as logistics, transport, equipment, training etc. Easier said than done in that case.

Do you know how many allied troops of USA participated in the Korean War? It is wrong to pretend that USA is fighting China alone.

Yes, USA is indeed fighting across the Pacific, but it is true that USA has an absolute firepower advantage. Your opponent is using such equipment to fight you, and the Chinese had advanced from the Yalu River to the 38 line.

The military gap between China and US was enormous in the 1950’s. Considering the technological gap between the sides this should not have been even close. US had all the advantages and still lost North Korea to a volunteer army with vastly inferior military equipment.

This is one of the greatest military victories in human history.

Not really. US has a mega military base in Japan. Even the B-29 bomber are flown from Japan. Soviet only provide logistics. The brute of fighting lies on the Chinese.

WTF you are talking about? When China pushed UN troops back to the 38 line, Chinese army barely received any military or economic aid from Soviet Union. Check the movie clips again. Chinese soldiers were still using old style long rifles. No air support, no PPSh, no T34, no Katyusha.

It's true that US is far away from Korea. But sea freight was still very efficient transport measure even in 1950's. And you totally neglected another industrial country right next to the Korea peninsula------Japan. Which is a reliable supply base for US.

American technological superiority was in the oceans mostly. Battles on the ground were decided by infantry in large part.

American military was in downsizing phase when the Korean War broke out:

When China intervened, DPRK was still in the game and fought alongside. USSR had committed its Air Force to the cause as well. Together, communist forces had both numbers and technology to challenge US-led forces in the region.

I watched The Eight Hundred movie the other day.

I got the feeling, the directors and the censors must've really struggled on how to show the unfurlling and depiction of the Taiwanese flag in the movie.

China did not prohibit the use of KMT flags in films, because the CCP's army was also using KMT flags and numbers at that time. The CCP's armies are the 18th and 4th KMT armies.
You may not know that CCP was once a part of KMT, and almost all the old members of CCP were party members of KMT. On April 12, 1927, when Chiang Kai Shek launched a coup, CCP split from KMT.
In 1937, CCP rejoined the KMT govt to resist the Japanese together. In 1945, Japan surrendered. In 1946, the two parties split again.

You can see the numbers in following infographic:

The bulk of United Nations forces was composed of American troops.

Chinese military was poorly equipped in the early days of Chinese intervention in the Korean War but USSR came forth and provided weapons for the needful:

"Information on Soviet military aid to China during the Korean War remains fragmentary, sketchy and contradictory, and needs to be further corroborated with the Soviet war archives which are open to the public. Available sources indicate that the exigencies of war compelled the USSR to supply a substantial amount of heavy equipment, mostly artillery and tanks, and a large number of aircraft to North Korea and China. Armed with the PLA’s old, but huge inventory of light weapons and artillery, the Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) entered the war in October 1950 without Soviet military assistance.

The initial casualties at the end of 1950 and particularly the heavy battle losses in early 1951 prompted PLA Chief of Staff Xu Xiangqian’s visit to Moscow in May 1951 and eventually led to the October 1951 agreement for the USSR to provide massive amounts of equipment to supply dozens of Chinese infantry and airborne divisions. In addition to direct transfers of weapons, this agreement also provided for Soviet expert assistance, know-how and technology to be passed to China to advance its arms-production capabilities.

The total air strength of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) was more than tripled in size during 1951, from 500 aircraft in 1950 to more than 1500 aircraft, including some 700 MiG-15 fighter jets and about 150 Tu-2 piston engine light bombers. During the Korean War, the USSR supplied China with military aid amounting at the time to $1.5–2 billion, including aid to war industries in Manchuria. As a result of the Chinese involvement in the war, China became more dependent on the USSR financially and diplomatically, and Chinese leaders sought to follow the Soviet lines of socialist development more closely than before.

The death of Stalin on 5 March 1953 and the end of the Korean War on 27 July of the same year proved to be turning points in Sino-Soviet relations."

Chinese source CGTN acknowledged Soviet assistance to China in the Korean War in one of its articles but it is not working for me for some reason.

China also began to field advanced weapons of its own at some point. Chinese Type 50 sub-machine gun was one such example:

And as I pointed out in my other post;

When China intervened, DPRK was still in the game and fought alongside. USSR had committed its Air Force to the cause as well. Together, communist forces had both numbers and technology to challenge US-led forces in the region.

The biggest Winner in this War is Chinese, because with all limitation they have. They can achieve such Remarkable Winning. Not to mention, China is the only player that achieve their mission.

US & South korea wants to Unite korean peninsula under SK : FAIL

North Korea & Soviet Union wants to Unite korean peninsula under NK : FAIL

China wants to hold US troops south of 38th lines and saving NK : SUCCESS

Uni Soviet indeed provide air support, but you forget a crucial point. That Soviet aircraft limited by Stalin to playing only around Yalu river (The So called 'Mig Alley')

Meanwhile after crossing the Yalu river, Chinese troops basically fighting alone. Fighting the US that rule the sky & sea.

If in 1950 there is PDF, 99% members in here would vote for overwhelmingly US victories. Yes, Korea located in Asia. But a few years before, US fighting a WAR across the Ocean also and beat Germany & Japan in the same time.

China in that time is still poor and in the aftermath of WW2 & Civil War. Their industries basically non-existent at that time.

There is no one dare to thinks that Chinese troops at that time can mauled US troops and give them 'The so-called Longest Retreat in US History'
Including the famous general of MacArthur, that barking his troops would slaughter any Chinese troops dare to cross the Yalu river.

And also unbelievable too many people, that Chinese troops can hold US troops for the next 3 years around 38th lines. US troops never ever set foot again in Pyongyang after Chinese troops come in.

Even with the US have full superiority in the sky & sea, but still their ground troops Fail to push Chinese Troops back to Pyongyang.

For sure, Chinese is the enemy that you don't want to mess with

In July 1951, China and USA began armistice negotiations. By this time, the two armies had faced off on the 38 line. Both sides have no desire to continue a large-scale war, but are striving for better armistice conditions and exchange POW.
In October 1951, the Soviet Union did hand over a batch of weapons to China, but it had no much effect on the war situation.

There were about several thousands of Soviet militaries in Korea during Korean War. USSR lost 315 of them. A little bit lesser than US, I suppose.

One of the greatest military victories in human history. North Korea is a country today because of China’s victory.

US lost to a fourth world country that had been devastated by years of civil war and war against Japan. CKS had retreated to Taiwan with all of China gold bullion leaving China a bankrupt country. Any other country, it would have been a cake walk for US. But this is the Middle Kingdom. Even Truman himself said US lost to a bunch of laundryman. US retreated so fast that they even left behind their regiment flags now on display at Chinese museum.

The US call the Korean war ”The wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time" or the 'Forgotten war' for a reason. In fact no memorial was built for the US Korean war veterans until 1995, 40 years after the war .

Some poster here trying to rewrite the history of the Korean war. :disagree:

American technological superiority was in the oceans mostly. Battles on the ground were decided by infantry in large part.

American military was in downsizing phase when the Korean War broke out

If it were not for the help of the U.S. Navy, the U.S. 1st Marine Division could not have escaped.

The United States invested 13 aircraft carriers in the Korean War.
