Even i thought the same before.
But when your city's population is growing and you don't want to expand horizontally(problems like clearing forest etc) then we have to go vertical.


For ex:In Mumbai as the population explodes we can't expand into the sea,hence going vertical is the only option.

earthquake or a fire then the lives of those on the higher stories will be at risk.Building tall buildings is a new method of projecting one's economic might that's it.A city can become a super city without these.Just look at London.The tallest building there is only 40 stories high.

True that it has its own share of problems ex:9/11 etc

Countries like UK,Iceland,Scandinavia,Finland are very rich yet they don't have any skyscrapers as there isn't a population explosion unlike here.


So before building a skyscraper we should picture all the dangerous scenario and make adequate preparations for them.For example this video tells a lot about a planned project in Tokyo called "Sky city"

Fuzhou's doing good now and with its cultural ties with Taiwan, I think Fujian will grow faster in the future as cross-strait economic integration continues.

Yeah, Fujian did suffer major delays in development because of it being a potential battlefield. Hopefully the direct links to Taiwan will help fasten the development. Better still if we can sign a peace treaty with Taiwan in the future to further stabilize the cross-straits relation.
