A Chinese firm has expressed its interest in investing in the Pakistani province of Punjab, according to sources. The firm, which has not been named, is reportedly keen to explore opportunities in the province's energy, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.

Punjab is Pakistan's most populous province and is home to several key industries, including textiles, sugar, cement, and steel. The province is also a major producer of wheat, rice, and cotton.

The Chinese firm's interest in investing in Punjab comes at a time when Pakistan and China are seeking to deepen their economic ties through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which aims to connect China's western region with Pakistan's Gwadar port.

The Chinese firm's investment is expected to boost Pakistan's economy and create new opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries. Punjab Chief Minister, Usman Buzdar, has welcomed the Chinese firm's interest, saying that the province is open to investment from all countries and that the government will provide all possible support to the investors.

The Chinese firm is expected to hold talks with Pakistani officials in the coming weeks to explore potential investment opportunities in Punjab. This development is seen as a positive sign for Punjab's economy, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and is in need of foreign investment to stimulate growth.

Best place for China to invest including AJK as well!

Security situation is incredibly safe, by far the highest HDI, locals are generally more educated and more open minded. They will definitely reap benefits.

Amount of money invested in Gwadar, put into the above would've reaped a greater reward likely. Obviously it's not as strategic as a coastal city around the world's deepest sea port but there are other opportunities.

Pakistan rejects US ‘concerns’ about China loans

February 23, 2023

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday rubbished controversial remarks by a US official about China’s loans under CPEC, asserting that Islamabad is proud of its friendship with Beijing which has always come to assistance whenever needed.

“China has always come to Pakistan’s assistance whenever needed. Pakistani nation is proud of its friendship with China,” Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch told a weekly press briefing when asked about the US State Department Counselor Derek Chollet’s recent statement regarding Pakistan-China relations

The spokesperson said Pakistan being a sovereign state exercises the right to choose its economic partners from around the globe on mutually beneficially basis. “Pakistan considers China as an all-weather strategic cooperative partner,” she reiterated. “China has been a consistent, generous and steadfast friend that has stood by Pakistan for the last several decades,” she added.

It is worth mentioning here that US State Department Counselor Derek Chollet had said last week during visit to Islamabad that United States was concerned about debt owed to China by Pakistan and other countries.

He had also said that Washington was talking to Islamabad about the “perils” of a closer relationship with Beijing, but would not ask Pakistan to choose between the United States and China.

Millions of people were affected by the floods and landslides, which affected 15% of Pakistan's population. Over 4 million children are still living close to toxic and stagnant floodwaters months after the flooding, putting their lives in peril.
The Li Ning Group, a leading sports brand corporation in China, participated in the "Put on Chinese Shoes, Rebuild New House" project, which CLIA started in January to assist individuals in need.
