China thrice blocked moves in UNSC to ban Jamaat

Three attempts to proscribe Jamaat-ud-Dawah, the frontal organisation of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), in the United Nations Security Council were blocked by China in the past, and now all eyes would be on what Beijing does on the fresh move to ban the outfit.

The sanctions committee of the Council had circulated a note to its members that the United States, backed by Britain and France, had twice tried to add JuD chief Hafiz Mohammed Saeed to the list of individuals and organisations connected to terrorism in May 2007, but the move was blocked by China, according to a note circulated in the UNSC on Wednesday.

A similar attempt directed against the organisation in April 2006 was also blocked by China, the note said.

Now India has put in a formal request for declaring JuD as a terrorist outfit for its involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks. New Delhi has also asked for freezing of assets of the organisation.

In the three previous attempts to include the Jamat-ud-Dawah in the list, China had opposed the request. But not this time, given the concrete supportive documents provided by India and the US about the group’s role in the Mumbai terror attacks.

JuD is now a proscribed organisation by the UN. And those countries that don't ban JuD are in violation of the UNSC resolution that had approval of China among others.

Pakistan's government also banned the JuD on the same day and issued an order to seal the JuD in all four provinces, as well as Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.[10] Before the ban JuD ran a weekly newspaper named Ghazwah, two monthly magazines called Majalla Tud Dawaa and Zarb e Taiba, and a fortnightly magazine for children, Nanhe Mujahid. The publications have since been banned by the Pakistani government. In addition to the prohibition of JuD's print publications, the organisation's websites were also shut down by the Pakistani government.

It's not humor, instead its reality. 99% of those terrorist organisations are extinct. The remaining few gasping their last breaths like Maoists and ULFA.

Maoist are already history in South India and are fast becoming extinct in the forests.
