Laos and China pledged on Monday to deepen military exchanges and cooperation, strengthen unity and friendship between the two countries'militaries and work together to maintain regional peace and stability.

The vows came out of the meeting between the Lao Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense Douangchay Phichith, Lao Deputy Minister of National Defense Sanyahak Phomvihane and the visiting Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Cai Yingting.

Douangchay said the Lao side appreciates the Chinese side's long-term support and help which have contributed to the Lao social economic development and national defense building. The Lao Party, government and military attach great importance to developing relations with China, and are willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to further promote the two states and militaries' ties to a new level.

Sanyahak said that no matter how changes in the international and regional situation, the solid traditional friendship between the two countries' people and militaries won't change. Laos is willing to cooperate with China closely, deepen communication and cooperation between the two militaries, and constantly strengthen unity and friendship of the two sides.

Cai said that China and Laos are friendly neighbors, the peoples of the two countries have forged a profound friendship since ancient times. In recent years, the bilateral ties continue to see a healthier and stabler development, especially after the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership.

The Chinese side will continue to maintain close high-level contacts with Laos, enhance substantial cooperation, and strengthen friendly coordination, in order to contribute to the bilateral ties, and regional peace, stability and prosperity, Cai added.

The Cai-led Chinese PLA delegation arrived in Lao's capital of Vientiane on Monday at the invitation of the Lao Ministry of National Defense, kicking off their friendly visit to Laos.

We need to build a high speed railway connecting China, Laos and Cambodia, terminating in the South China Sea close to the Gulf of Thailand. With Cambodia's help, China can build a port and counter the Vietnamese aggressive plans in South China Sea.

3/ Abolish the unfair of 25 year Treaty between Vietnam & Laos ( July 18, 1977 )
Article Five: The Two Sides Endeavor to Strengthen Militants, Solidarity Relations & Cooperation
Military, the 25 year Vietnamese - Laotian Treaty of July 18, 1977 allowed more then 500,000 Vietnamese civilians and family of the army to station in Laos. There were more than 100,000 Vietnam troops in December 1988.
In December 1988, the Communist Lao Government announced that all the Vietnam troops had withdrawn from Laos but in fact, there are still more than 60,000 Vietnamese troops in December 1990.
On 11 November 1995 Vietnam signed a new Treaty with Laos to further enhance this arrangement, under the name " Labour Exchange Agreement "
Under the term of Labour Exchange Agreement , Vietnam sent their soldiers to Laos in the disguise of ordinary labourers; these labourers had trucks of their own, in which they kept a wide variety of special weaponry for military action for any eventuality.

Lol, if China wanted Laos and Cambodia, they would have snatched it from Vietnam decades ago. It's all about the "bang for the buck." Presently, taking over Cambodia and Laos does not benefit China economically.

The average Chinese earns x4 the income of Vietnamese and they have x15 the population (60x economic power). It's not a matter of competition, but China's will.

Many of the PLA’s commanding officers were shocked by the poor discipline, low morale, combat ineffectiveness, and high casualties in the 1979 Sino-Vietnamese War

laos and cambodia are already close to china, we just need to put vietnam in place before consolidating power on southeast asia. then, we will be able to project power in the south china sea. it is inevitable. US needs to go home, their people are angry and they don't want war.
