Beijing : China and Japan agreed to step up efforts to improve their relations frozen over rival claims on a group of islands as the Foreign Ministers of the world’s second and the third-largest economies held rare talks after a gap of over four years. On a fence mending visit, Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida held talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. He also met Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and State Councillor Yang Jiechi.

Receiving Kishida, Wang said “if you come with sincerity we welcome you”. “We have seen signs of improvement in China-Japan relations. However, there is still a lack of mutual trust between the two sides. Your visit this time is of positive significance,” Wang said. Outlining China’s thinking over shoring up the ties between the two countries, Wang said they should have a more positive and healthy attitude toward the growth of China and should stop spreading or echoing all kinds of “China threat” or “China economic recession” theories. Kishida highlighted that China’s development means opportunities for Japan, saying that the Japanese side commends China for its positive role and contributions in many international and regional affairs.

As the world’s third- and second-largest economies, Japan and China shoulder more responsibilities for the development and prosperity of Asia and beyond, Kishida said.

The two ministers agreed to step up efforts to accelerate the pace of improvement in political relations, Japanese news agency Kyodo reported.

High-level ties between the two countries have remained largely frozen since Japan nationalised a group of uninhabited East China Sea islands claimed by China in 2012. The move sparked deep anger in China. The uninhabited islands – believed to be rich with oil and minerals – are called Senkakus by Japan and Diaoyu by China. The island dispute led to polarisation of sentiments in both the countries affecting their flourishing trade ties.

Kishida stressed the need of stronger mutual trust by promoting cooperation in various nonpolitical fields, such as economics, the environment and youth exchanges, according to the ministry.

Wang said that China-Japan ties must be based on “respect for history, adherence to commitment and cooperation rather than confrontation.” Wang said China and Japan are neighbours and stressed that China is willing to develop a healthy and stable relationship with Japan.

This man think he's smart with the wish to cooperate with China on other field such economic, and environment while use political mean to create trouble for China, this is not the way to promote trust nor improve tie.:coffee:,

Well, considering about "controlling". China set up Air Defense Identification Zone (East China Sea) over Diaoyu islands at 2013(Nov,23).

As of Dec. 4, 2013 some 55 airlines in 19 countries and 3 regions have complied with China's ADIZ rules.

japan finally agreed to complied the rules after US agreed to follow Chinese ADIZ rules.:usflag:

I means there's no benefit for China to raise the tension on an island which China never touch during entire of 20th century.

Well, followed by your logic, vietnam should not independent from China since it was a province of China for almost 1000 years and rest time mostly just a vassal state of China.

When Vietnam is a province of China?
Actually, you guys satisfy with "vassal state" usage, but ignore that China must accept stay away from the independence of Vietnam after major defeats.

Just like I K.O. you in a boxing game, and tell you "Ok, you win" . Will you go around and declare you defeated me?

Defeat of the Qing dynasty
Main article: Battle of Ngọc Hồi-Đống Đa

Late 18th-century painting depicting the Qianlong Emperor receiving Nguyen Quang-Hien, the peace envoy from Nguyen Hue in Beijing.

The Qianlong Emperor of the Chinese Qing dynasty sent a massive army south with Lê Chiêu Thống (the last official Lê emperor) in 1788 to restore him to the throne, though under Qing protection.

On December 22, 1788, Nguyễn Huệ erected an altar on a hill south of Phu Xuan and proclaimed himself Emperor Quang Trung, in effect abolishing on his own the Lê dynasty.[11] He then raised an army and later gathered his forces in the countryside around Thăng Long (today called Ha Noi) which had been taken by the Qing army. He declared in front of his soldiers:

Fight to keep our hair long,
Fight to keep our teeth black,
Fight so that our enemies won't have a single wheel to come home
Fight so that our enemies won't have a single armor to come home
Fight so that history knows this heroic Southern country has its owners.
In a brilliantly successful battle, Nguyễn Huệ made a surprise and fast attack against the Qing forces during Tết, the Vietnamese lunar new year holiday. This was traditionally a time of peace for all sides and the Qing troops were unprepared for battle. In a fierce 4-day battle they were soundly and stunningly defeated and Lê Chiêu Thống was forced to flee for his life back to China. Yet, Nguyễn Huệ showed considerable gallantry to the defeated Qing forces, allowing them to return home with honor and encouraging a peaceful relationship in keeping with previous arrangements, with the Qianlong Emperor. As for himself, Nguyễn Huệ had become the national savior of Vietnam and one of the most popular figure in the country.

--------------

Tới tháng 11 năm 1790, đoàn sứ bộ trở về Thăng Long.

".......The Hồng Bàng dynasty of the Hùng kings is considered the first Vietnamese state, known in Vietnamese as Văn Lang. In 257 BC, the last Hùng king was defeated by Thục Phán, who consolidated the Lạc Việt and Âu Việttribes to form the Âu Lạc, proclaiming himself An Dương Vương. In 207 BC, a Chinese general named Zhao Tuo defeated An Dương Vương and consolidated Âu Lạc into Nanyue. However, Nanyue was itself incorporated into the empire of the Chinese Han dynasty in 111 BC after the Han–Nanyue War.
For the next thousand years, what is now northern Vietnam remained mostly under Chinese rule.[23] Early independence movements, such as those of the Trưng Sisters and Lady Triệu, were only temporarily successful, though the region gained a longer period of independence as Vạn Xuân under the Anterior Lý dynasty between AD 544 and 602.[24] By the early 10th century, Vietnam had gained autonomy, but not sovereignty, under the Khúc family......"

You should abandon your whole country likewise and hand it to China.

Actually, Qing dynasty gifted large areas including Taiwan and surround islands, to Japan.
It's American who controlled Senkaku at time, decided Senkaku belong to Japan.
Vietnam never gifted anything to China.

I have advice to you, let submit the case to PCA against American on their decision to transfer Senkaku control to Japan.

Anyway, even People Daily Newspaper ever used the name Senkaku during 1950s and recognize it's Japan territory. So how you say that belong to China?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Shimonoseki
  • Article 1: China recognizes definitively the full and complete independence and autonomy of Korea, and, in consequence, the payment of tribute and the performance of ceremonies and formalities by Korea to China, that are in derogation of such independence and autonomy, shall wholly cease for the future.
  • Articles 2 & 3: China cedes to Japan in perpetuity and full sovereignty of the Pescadores group, Formosa (Taiwan) and the eastern portion of the bay of Liaodong Peninsula together with all fortifications, arsenals and public property.
  • Article 4: China agrees to pay to Japan as a war indemnity the sum of 200,000,000 Kuping taels
  • Article 5: China opens Shashih, Chungking, Soochow and Hangchow to Japan. Moreover, China is to grant Japan most-favored-nation treatment.

What a nut, hehe!:coffee:

First you know that, the island belong to China, our land, whether we touch it during entire of 20th century is not your business, can't change the fact that it is our territory, understand?! you think territory can be exchanged?

Benefit? hehe, as you logic, If I sleep with you wife, you should be silent, because your action may lead to that I would hit your sh!t out of you mouth.

Your comment are always ridiculous, like other Vietnamese Comments, lack of basic logic, read and learn more, don't think reading several books, browsing some western website, then you become smart.:coffee:

Any improvement in relations will suit Japan much more that China.

Its very clear that good relations between china and Japan is a fantasy - for the next 10 generations anyways. East asia and the s.c.s will inevitable be pulled into Chinese sphere, regardless of good relations or not.
