World’s largest seaplane was recently unveiled by Chinese state-owned company Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) which many Strategic experts predict could be game changer for Chinese military in South China sea even though Chinese media as dubbed it has Search and Rescue plane and can also be used as fire-fighting freighter plane to fight forest fires.

AG600 is about the size of a Boeing 737 and can be easily converted to a maritime platform for Chinese military and be used as anti-submarine warfare (ASW) or as an Electronic intelligence (ELINT) aircraft to spy on Warships moving around South China sea or in IOR region .

Strategic experts also believe that AG600 can also be used as a tactical transporter since it has the ability to carry 50 fully armed troops and since this aircraft will enter into large scale production soon , it is expected it will enter into service in high numbers which will give Chinese military planners ability to drop troops from the sea if need arise .

AG600 has a maximum range of 4,500 km (2,800 miles) if flown from man-made Chinese Artificial islands from the South China Sea can reach India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands which in next few years will be India’s front line Naval forward post in Indian ocean region (IOR) .

China already has placed orders for 17 AG600 but many Strategic experts believe China might require nearly 100 of AG600 Seaplane for effective operations in South China sea or in IOR region.Only time will tell if AG600 will be one of the platforms which will bring war into this region but fast track development of this seaplane by China shows that its Civilian and military leadership are keen in reducing its Maritime capability deficiencies .

Wow!!

Think News is Better than Arnab Goswamis daily dose!!

1 Sqn of Mig 21 Type 75 ---are ample to scare these Magnificent State of Art Machines to Oblivion.

Thanks for Good Laugh.

And shot by Su30 MKI over A&N islands. Its hightime we stop posting links from idrw and most importantly in forums dominated by members, is it fair to have a computer bot like kalno-something to keep posting flametory articles.

@WebMaster @waz
Neither of the mods have any clue how to control the bot called Kahonapyarhai. He goes on with impunity

BS article aside, China is fast growing in aerospace sector. they climber hte ladder from building copy fighters to their own aeroplanes. India has a long way to go. :(

Dont pitch it as a strategic a/c againt India..... leave it for the purpose for which it was built i.e a SAR a/c and forest fire fighter.

these aircraft are useful for supporting maritime operations - transport, search & rescue, ASW
they are sitting ducks for combat aircraft
