Featured Biden seeks restoration of peoples’ rights in Kashmir; disappointed with CAA, NRC

Now Pakistani will teach Indians the Art of Diplomacy!!!

Do you trust the capability of your Diplomats or Politicians to deliver or do you think Baniya Hindu will pull the rug under you, the way it has always done.

The CAA and NRC aren't going anywhere, Biden will be provided an explanation for them if he wants. Trump asked about the CAA and muslim situation in India too and Modi explained it to him.

As for Kashmir, nothing will change there either, 370 will not be restored and India are fighting a jihadist insurgency aided by Pakistan. Kashmir might get statehood at some stage when things settle down, the BJP are open to that but it'll be an internal decision if and when it happens, outside pressure will not work.

For the rest, US will keep selling arms and defence cooperation will continue. With Biden, not much will change at all wrt US - India ties.

Surprisingly we dont know their plans democratics are 2 face sword when republicans are 1 and half. In the end they have same goal. They will act like they pushing pressure on Modi over kashmir but at the same time they will be helping them to build economically militarily or socially.

all this means is india is not going to have a free hand as before.

Many Indian Americans are more Americans than Americans themselves. An average Indian American may contribute to India but not the high-profile ones like Kamala Harris.

It is good that way. When an Indian becomes a foreign national, his or her priority should be THAT nation.

Expecting any major pro-Indian policy measures from an high-profile Indian American is neither realistic nor required. Kamala married an American Xtian/Jew/whatever, her kids are Xtian/Jew/whatever (may be with an icing of Dharmic/Indic religions on the top) and for all purposes she is an western American. Few Indians from her ancestral VILLAGE in India are rejoicing and celebrating which is ok. But the average educated Indian is not expecting anything swashbuckling from her.

Congrats to Pakistanies for having a Pakistani supporter as president and VP of usa .Now everything on their side I hope they won't start blaming India and later usa .:-)
wo to karenge hi. wo to karna hi hai. its irrefutable divine truth

In what way will India not have a free hand in handling it's own affairs ?

I know you don't understand these concepts but there will be pressure from state department. Human rights and rule of law are important values.

Can you imagine the abuse Kamla Harri's mother got when her family and home village found out she was marrying a black man. Kamla Harris being pro India is not a given.

Biden seeks restoration of peoples’ rights in Kashmir; disappointed with CAA, NRC

Joe Biden has been disappointed by the measures that the government of India has taken with the implementation and aftermath of the NRC in Assam and the passage of the CAA into law, a policy paper said.

Democratic presidential nominee and former U.S. vice president Joe Biden wants India to take necessary steps to restore the rights of Kashmiris, and has expressed disappointment over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the implementation of the NRC in Assam.
According to a policy paper —‘Joe Biden’s agenda for Muslim American community’ — posted recently on his campaign website, these measures (the CAA and the National Register of Citizens) are inconsistent with the country’s long tradition of secularism and with sustaining a multi-ethnic and multi-religious democracy .

A group of Hindu Americans has reached out to the Biden campaign expressing resentment to the language used against India and urged it to reconsider the views. The group has also sought a similar policy paper on Hindu Americans.
The Biden campaign did not respond to questions.

Observing that Mr. Biden understands the pain Muslim-Americans feel towards what is happening in Muslim-majority countries and countries with significant Muslim populations, the policy paper clubbed together Kashmir and Assam in India with the forced detention of over a million Uyghur Muslims in western China, and discrimination and atrocities against Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslim minority.

In Kashmir, the Indian government should take all necessary steps to restore rights of all the people of Kashmir. Restrictions on dissent, such as preventing peaceful protests or shutting or slowing down the internet, weakens democracy.

Joe Biden has been disappointed by the measures that the government of India has taken with the implementation and aftermath of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam and the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act into law, the policy paper said.

India abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution on August 5 last year and bifurcated it into two Union territories — Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

India has defended its move, saying the special status provisions only gave rise to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. It has asserted that the abrogation of Article 370 is its “internal matter“.

The Indian government maintains that the CAA, which was passed by Parliament, is an internal matter of the country and stressed that the goal is to protect the oppressed minorities of neighbouring countries.

According to the CAA, members of the Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities who have come from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan till December 31, 2014 following religious persecution there will get Indian citizenship.

India has said that the updation of the NRC in Assam is an “entirely internal” process carried out at the direction and under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

Reacting to the policy paper, Biden supporter Ajay Jain Bhutoria told PTI that Mr. Biden as the U.S. Senator for decades and as the vice president under previous president Barack Obama for eight years has been known as one of the best friends of India and Indian-Americans.

He played a key role in the passage of the Indo-U.S. civil nuclear deal and as vice president, he advocated increasing the bilateral trade to $500 billion per annum, he said, adding that Mr. Biden regularly hosted Diwali at his vice-presidential residence and is well-connected with the Indian-Americans.

Mr. Biden understands the issues impacting India, issues of cross border terrorism, influx of terrorism across borders in Kashmir, issue of Hindu minorities’ sufferings in Kashmir, issues in the Indo-Pacific region with China, and the rising role of India as a stronger U.S. ally in all areas including economic growth, counter-terrorism, fight for human rights, climate change and global security.

There are groups within various elected officials’ groups in the U.S., pushing the language and the agenda’s highlighting misinformation and damaging facts on how India handled its own internal matter on Kashmir, Ladakh or immigration reforms related to NRC, said Mr. Bhutoria, who is also on the National Finance Committee for Mr. Biden.

He said that the U.S. recently updated its immigration policy to block the H-1B and other visas for the rest of the year to safeguard its own workers, which is completely questionable and will hurt the economy.

India too has a right to define its own immigration policy to support its population and economy. I grew up in Assam, Guwahati and I have seen the influx of people across the border and taking away important jobs, resources from local people in northeastern States.

The immigration reforms and NRC are welcome steps. Execution of these reforms and strategies need to be improved and India needs to do better while rolling out of reforms, Mr. Bhutoria added.

Rishi Bhutada, board member, Hindu American Political Action Committee, said the Biden campaign is missing the much needed context about Pakistan-sponsored cross border terrorism in regards to Kashmir“.

It is also missing how the CAA is a good-faith effort to remedy the status of approximately 30,000 persecuted religious minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who sought refuge in India, have no other path to citizenship, and no chance of returning to their home countries safely, Mr. Bhutada said.

Americans are unreliable and unbelievable. There is always something else to show but something else to do. Whether it was Trump or it is Biden, under the control of the Jewish lobby the US anti-Pakistan agenda will remain the same

It was only a matter of time, Trump was able to turn a blind eye on this case because his presidency was based on division. Democrats will be against anything that curtails human rights, whilst this is a good development it is yet to be seen how far they will make an issue out of this.

They might make statements against it but take no action or they might take action against it. Hmmm... the next few weeks will be interesting, what's guaranteed is that Biden's foreign policy will be radically different to Trump. Which means more pressure on Modi.
