This Saturday video footage run by China's CCTV via AP Video shows a Chinese H-6K bomber flying along a runway in the South China Sea. The Chinese air force has landed long-range bombers for the first time at an airport in the South China Sea, a state newspaper said Saturday, in a move likely to further fuel concerns about Beijing's expansive claims over the disputed region. | CCTV / VIA AP VIDEO / VIA AP

HANOI - Recent activity by China’s strategic bombers in the South China Sea’s Paracel Islands seriously violated Vietnam’s sovereignty over the disputed territory, Vietnam’s foreign ministry said on Monday.

China’s air force said bombers such as the H-6K had landed and taken off from islands and reefs in the South China Sea last week as part of training exercises.

The flights “increase tensions, cause regional instabilities and are not good for maintaining a peaceful, stable and cooperative environment in the East Sea,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said in a statement, using the Vietnamese name for the South China Sea.

The Philippines also expressed “serious concerns” Monday over the presence of the bombers in the area and said its foreign ministry has taken “appropriate diplomatic action.

Vietnam and China have long been embroiled in maritime disputes in the South China Sea. The Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan also have claims to parts of the potentially energy-rich maritime territory.

“Vietnam demands that China stop these activities, cease militarization of the area, and strictly respect Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa islands,” Hang said, referring to the Paracels.

Hang said the presence of the bombers in the area has an adverse impact on ongoing negotiations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on a Code of Conduct in the South China Sea.

In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kan urged other countries not to over-interpret what he called a routine military patrol.

“We hope that relevant parties do not read too much into this,” Lu Kang told a daily news briefing.

Earlier this month Vietnam asked China to withdraw military equipment from the nearby Spratly Islands in the disputed waters, following media reports that China had installed missiles there.

In response China said its deployment of defense equipment and troops on the islands was its right, adding that the equipment helped protect the peace and stability of the region and “does not target any country.”

Vietnam’s state oil firm PetroVietnam has said maritime tensions with China will hurt its offshore exploration and production activities.

In March the company told Spanish energy firm Repsol to halt an oil project offshore of Vietnam under pressure from China.

Last week, a unit of Russian state oil firm Rosneft also expressed concern that its recent drilling in the area could upset China.

“Whoever eats apples these days must be loaded,” said Li Tao, who has been selling apples for more than 20 years.

Migrant workers used to be able to afford apples, he said. “Now it’s too expensive,” Mr. Li said.

Do you consider America's freedom of navigation to be peaceful? Do you support freedom of navigation?

If yes, then what's the problem?
America doesn’t claim the sea, the islands. Pls note the difference!

If I provide evidence that the Chinese consume the most fruits. Are you willing to kneel down? Don't run away.

Baby. Who are you talking about malnutrition? You?
---------------

Truong Tuyet Mai, said that over 200,000 children had acute malnutrition and thousands of children died every year because of malnutrition-related causes.

One out of six children under five years old in Vietnam is malnourished. The malnutrition rate in ethnic minority groups doubled compared to Kinh people.

80.8% of the children lack zinc, 31.3% lack iron and 16% lack Vitamin A. The lack of nutrients can cause blindness, anaemia and impaired brain function.

"Our most recent survey in Simacai District, Lao Cai Province, showed that 60% of children under five are malnourished," Mai said. "This rate at some places are over 70%."

Haha. A malnitriton dumb pesant like u can keep mocking ppl here. No one give a dam care:cool:

VN is poor, GDP per cpt is equal wt CN in 2007 so malnutrition rate maybe high, thats normal. We also dont brag how "rich" we r like Cnese here. But its sick to see "powerful" CN wt GDP per cpt 10,000 also have hundred million malnutrition ppl who cant afford to buy 250gram of fruit each day.

So you mean Vietnam can't be anywhere near these seas then?

If we are to accept the premise that freedom of navigation is only fine when a non claimant does it, then Vietnam being a claimant must stay away. That's the only logical conclusion from this.

yeah. U guys cant even buy enough 250gram of fruit each day, so CN'd better stop barking and acting like N.Korea while having hundred malnutrition ppl dont have enough food.

Everyone already know Cnese IQ is very low when only control 10-12% of SCS( east VN sea) while VN control 60-65%. So, Cnese'd better focus on how to buy enough 250gram of fruit each day than making noise in the sea.

I don’t get it! If US is harassing you, why should we complain? You harass us, why don’t you complain yourself?
