The public have been advised to remain cautious between April 10 and 18 as a professor of the Peradeniya University has “predicted” an earthquake may occur in the Indonesian region during that period which may affect South Asia as well.
Professor Athula Senaratne of the Geological Department at the Peradeniya University has said that if the quake occurs in shallow sea waters around 10 km in depth then a tsunami could be generated and that may have an impact on South Asia, a State news agency said.
The Lankapuvath news agency said that Professor Senaratne has so far made correct predictions on future earthquakes and Tsunami situations and yesterday’s earthquake in Japan was the latest of his predictions to be correct.
He has predicted that three more earthquakes may occur in the Indonesian region between April 10 and 18 and overall five earthquakes are on the cards in the month of April. The countries likely to be hit are China, Indonesia, Turkey, Iran and Japan.
Lankapuvath also said that the Disaster Management Centre and the National Tsunami Warning Centre in Sri Lanka are on the alert to face any tsunami situation.

Lets see these predictions will come true or not!

Those predictions are based on what? We would love to see how such conclusions are arrived at, especially regarding earthquakes, when many scientists have been struggling to find a clue to predict them.

They say they have found a special relationship with the planetary configuration and some major earthquakes which happened previously.

Peradeniya scientists predict quakes

Scientists at the University of Peradeniya who have been studying the occurrences of earthquakes around the world could possibly hold the key to predicting the next big quake.
The scientists have been able to find a significant relationship with the planetary configuration and some of the major earthquakes that have taken place, including the recent 6.3 earthquake that rocked Christchurch in New Zealand.

“We predicted according to our research and studies that there was to be an earthquake in New Zealand on February 22 and it occurred,” said Professor Athula Senaratne at the University. “Almost every quake that we predicted to occur during the month of March did take place,” he said.

According to him, the university presented its findings long before the quake hit Christchurch in New Zealand. He also added that the findings and predications were forwarded to the BBC, but was not responded to.
“The university is in the process of finalising their predictions for the month of April, and plans to have it released to the public by the first week of April,” He added.

The university will also go public with their findings. When asked of any threat to Sri Lanka during the course of this year, the professor added that earthquakes were a rare occurrence in Sri Lanka, but it was to take place in the Indian Ocean, the threat of a Tsunami were imminent and plausible.”

The scientists at the university studied over 136 earthquakes that measured over 6 in magnitude on the Richter scale. “We studied the co-relation of the quakes with solar and lunar eclipse as well as movements of the moon. We didn’t find a consistency hence we proceeded to map out the planetary configuration and their movements as well. We were then able to swiftly connect the dots to the configuration and the quakes,” he said.

The professor added that there is a valid and concrete consistency between the configuration of the planets to the quakes with a delay of only a day or two. “When there is a special arrangements of the plants, we have found that there have been several occurrences of earthquakes, many of which we predicted came true,” he observed.

What a load of rubbish , there is no reliable mechanism of early earthquake warning.
