In a joint press conference with Nawaz Sherif who is visiting Balchistan seeking an alliance with Baloch nationalists for the upcoming elections, one of the most senior Baloch leader terms the killing of the Punjabi civilians at the hands of the rebels as “silly” action by the youths and in the next sentence he mourns the disfigured bodies left on the roadside and blames it on FC and Pakistan army.

He says he understands the army operation against some “silly” youth who have gone to the mountains after killing professors, shopkeepers, labourers, doctors and teachers but says why there is no such operation in Punjab? Then he says that he is only willing to speak up like this because at his age (80+) he is no longer looking to get married so he has no fear.

For an outsider his speech is enough to bring tears in the eyes who would take his words on face value without even checking who actually are the victims of terrorism and how many of the discarded bodies belong to Baloch or Punjabis who ignore the warnings and threats from BLA to leave the province or stop writing against them.
His party has remained in power many times including his son on the helm as Balochistan Chief Minister but he doesn’t explain why the provincial grievances have never been addressed in his government.

He blames Pakistan army for having a speial vendata against Balochistan due to its army operations and terms it overreaction due to “silly” actions of Balochi youth and then he says why there has never been an operation in Punjab, to him the operations against madrassas, lal masjid and Sipah sahabah don’t count.

He mourns the death of all Pakistanis of every province but keeps the Punjabis out from his sympathy. As usual the aging sardar is using the well tried and tested formula to justify violence against the state by accusing Pakistan army and Punjab.

What a pity that he terms the terrorism of the BLA as “silly” acts which have devastated the lives of so many people and specially forced a lot of Balochis to move to other provinces.

Maybe he is complaining at the scale of the operations in Balochistan. But rest assured, if any terrorst in Punjab starts the terrorism at the scale of Balochistan that has racial hatred towards the Balochis, Sindhis or Pashtoon then Pakistan army will deal with that threat in same token. Maybe then Attah Ullah can be satisfied and can start looking for another bride.

what a hypocrite this Baloch leader is . when he talk about crimes of BLA he use word Silly action . i think for him killing teachers , doctor, professors is a childish and silly thing .
Important things is when they themselves are in power in Baluchistan then why did not they did anything for the Baluchis , the answer is simple that they are corrupt and they are doing politics over the dead bodies
Last paragraph also worth reading

The Sardar is talking from where sun don't shine.....must be due to his age factor.
These vested interests only know too well that they are a dying breed hence will clutch to any straws to get attention....and then an epic fail at that.

Best of luck to Baluch people and Baluchistan may you get the peace, prosperity and development you deserve.

The Baluchistan is the richest state with vast untapped natural resources and also a strategic location between gulf and the central asia.

If they use or allowed to utilized their assets Baluch will be richest persons as their low population will make it easier to be rich in less time.

read the history, balochis were never given the royalty of sui gas, the reserve which runs the whole country presently, balochis were also not given any thing from the sandak projects, it was a 50-50 share between federal govt and the chinese, why balochis let other pakistanis use their resources when they doubt that the exploiting their own resources will change their lives, it carried out for such a long time now when the balochis are rioting and when there is need to deploy the army, now every body is talking about balochistan while before no body ever gave a damn about!!

killing some baloch because they are not ready to share their resources with federation is not a solution, solution is to let them come on the mainstream and give them justice and give them the million dollars royalty and profits from federation which invests most of it in developing punjab, so that they can develop their own areas first and thinking of rest of pakistan later

balochistan is an important province of pakistan, if not by population, then by resources, next pakistani port to be built is in balochistan not punjab, give them proper representations and listen to them

I think Balochistan govt is given their share of revenue generated from natural gas & other resources, not sure though.

Rest i agree with your post that Balochs should be bring into mainstream politics & media & govt needs to invest heavily there, specially Gawadar needs proper attention & it will become next Dubai in the region.

remember Lal Masjid operation? and the operations against the madrassahs and sectarian organisations like Sipah Sahabah?
in Punjab, people welcome everyone and dont raise the race card like some nationalists do in other provences
hence there is no need for the kind of operation you are talking about.

its very easy to criticise FC and PA, although people complain a lot but they still wtire and make press statements against the FC which is fine and part of the freedom of expresson, but compare it with any statement against the BLA? what happens to those authors and journalists who dare to expose the BLA atrocities and the exploitation of the sardars?

if the intent is only to cause flame and trolling then rest assured any such post or thread will be deleted. there is no problem with constructive and genuine criticism but snide remarks and cocky BS is something we try to discourage because there is always a reaction from Pakistani side and you guys dont like it. so best solution is to discourge such attitide from both sides.

also, if a thread already exists then there is no point of spamming with similar story.

these are very simple forum rules that apply everywhere. I hope 82 posts are enough experience to understand this by now.

correction for you

Pakistan's enemies have only one problem and that is Pakistan Army, the moment you guys start praising PA and ISI we will worry.
as far as Feudalism and extremism are concerned yes they are the problem and this problem exists in the whole region if we only talk about the subcontinent. the names might be different but have the same mechanics.

the political leadership of Balochistan must be taken into confidence, Its sad to see that Nawaz failed.

military operations is no solution, we can clearly see how Pak army messed up to a point where the Baloch Leadership is not even willing to give a public consent to negotiations.

until and unless we dont silent the military in the matters that are purely political, we shall have Balochistan in trouble.

Balochistan will not remain with Pakistan: Top Baloch leader

ISLAMABAD: A senior Baloch nationalist leader warned that Balochistan would not "remain with" Pakistan if extra-judicial killings and excesses by security forces in the restive province were not stopped immediately.

If steps were not taken immediately to halt the extra-judicial killing of Baloch nationalists and to engage them in a dialogue, then "Balochistan will not remain with you" (Pakistan), said Sardar Ataullah Mengal, a senior leader of the Balochistan National Party.

He made the remarks while addressing a televised news conference with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in Karachi. Sharif said he met Mengal to discuss ways to address the grievances of the Baloch people and to strengthen democracy in the province.

In unusually blunt remarks, Mengal said the violence and killings by security forces had taken "Balochistan to the point of no return" and steps have to be taken to engage youths "who have been driven into the mountains by the army".

Criticising the powerful Pakistan Army, Mengal question why the security forces only acted in response to killings and political violence in Balochistan and not in places like Karachi and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

"I don't understand why our beloved army doesn't react to killings in those places as it does in Balochistan," he said. "This army only takes up the issues of Punjabis. This is Punjab's army and not Pakistan's army," he said.

At the same time, Mengal acknowledged that the killing of Punjabi settlers by Baloch groups was "wrong". He said he was part of Pakistan but was not accepted as a Pakistani. "I have no objection, they made the decision for me. They decided, not the people of Balochistan," he added.

Mengal also dismissed claims that a "foreign hand" was backing the violence in Balochistan.

Balochistan has been racked by violence over the past two years. Baloch national groups demanding autonomy and a greater say in the utilisation of the province's natural resources have carried out numerous attacks on security forces and infrastructure.

The bodies of over 200 Baloch activists have been found across the province since last year. Rights groups have alleged the activists were victims of extra-judicial killings by security forces. The army and intelligence agencies have denied these charges.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif said his PML-N party would fight for Balochistan and its people's rights. "We love Balochistan and it is a precious part of Pakistan," he said. Those responsible for rights violations and excesses in Balochistan should be held accountable, he said.
