"Badr 2014"- Largest Exercise in MENA History

Large scale live fire combined arms exercise conducted by the Egyptian Air Force and Rapid Deployment Forces. This exercise was conducted to simulate an operation against a disorganized enemy (Militias or terrorist groups) with a limited and ineffective air defence (made up of technical based AA and shoulder fired missiles). Proceedings were kicked off with intelligence gathering sorties carried out by E2C Hawkeye 2000, EC-130H Compasscall, and Beechcraft King Air ELINT/COMINT aircraft protected by multirole fighters such as the F-16.

Reconnaissance sorties continued with the use of Mig-21 and Mirage III Horus aircraft involved in the capturing of aerial photographs. Once targets were identified F-16, Mirage 2000, K-8E and Alpha jet aircraft used unguided bombs and weapons to attack enemy locations, supply lines, logistical hubs, and air defence placements, while Gazelle helicopters armed with wire guided missiles targeted and destroyed enemy vehicles and APC's. Once all those objectives were achieved two EAF Chinooks inserted SF attached to the Rapid Deployment Forces in HUMVEES and ATVs in order to assault an enemy position under the cover of EAF AH-64 Apache helicopters (which were present before using their 30mm guns against infantry positions and Hellfire missiles against enemy technicals). Once the assault was complete the SF were extracted by Chinooks. The last phase of the exercise then began, paratroopers (using free fall rather than static line) and their associated kit including vehicles were air dropped via EAF C-130H aircraft onto the location in order to hold it.

The footage released lasts for about an hour:-
